Job Description

Department: The School of Theology and Ministry

Reports To: Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry

Position Type: FullTime Faculty (Assoc. or Asst. depending on qualifications and experience)

DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: The Director of the Spanish Language Graduate Theology and Ministry Programs is responsible for providing visionary leadership and academic oversight for the Spanish masters degrees in leadership and theology programs. This role involves a range of administrative responsibilities including enrollment management partnership relationships adjunct faculty recruitment and supervision as well as contributing to the overall growth and development of the program. The candidate will hold a terminal degree in theology ministry or related discipline; possess Spanish fluency; and be committed to the Christian faith from within the Assemblies of God Pentecostal tradition.

Vanguard University offers both tenure track and term faculty contracts; the type of contract offered will be determined based on the candidates qualifications at the time of hire.

This position begins June 2024.

Essential Functions:

  1. Academic Leadership of Spanish Graduate Programs:
  • Provide strategic leadership.
  • Oversee academic quality relevance and assessment.
  • Supervise curriculum development and course scheduling.
  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and develop student body in collaboration with the STM the Graduate and Professional Education Office.
  • Manage program budget.
  • Evaluate prospective student applications.
  1. Teaching:
  • Teach the equivalent of 15 faculty load units within the field of leadership Christian ministry or a related field.
  1. Student Support:
  • Coordinate with university services to provide academic advising and support to students within the program.
  • Address student concerns and issues related to academic matters.
  • Participate in recruitment and enrollment processes including travel and recruitment events.
  1. Church & Organizational Partner Relationships
  • Develop and nurture church denominational and organizational partnerships in collaboration with the Dean of Missional Effectiveness and the Dean of the STM.
  1. Adjunct Faculty Management:
  • Recruit and supervise qualified instructors.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of adjunct faculty providing timely feedback and mentoring.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in theology ministry leadership or a related field.
  2. Strong Spanish fluency to:
    1. effectively communicate and engage with Spanishspeaking students
    2. function within the work environment to coordinate student support services and
    3. teach competently within theological and leadership disciplines.
  3. A portfolio of effective experience that demonstrates significant work and close affinity with the Spanishspeaking church.
  4. Assemblies of God ministerial credentials (certified licensed or ordained)
  5. Teamwork collaboration communication and interpersonal skills.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • significant online teaching experience
  • credentials at the ordination level
  • deep connections with Spanishspeaking Assemblies of God churches and districts

Salary:

Fulltime position. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Assistant Professor: $58242 to $78336
  • Associate Professor: $67932 to $91494

Placement at appropriate rank (e.g. Assistant or Associate) and initial salary are dependent upon education experience and based on Vanguards faculty compensation schedule. The upper range is reserved for candidates that demonstrate the highest level of proficiency within a particular rank.
