Job Description

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Science has parttime openings for a Federal Work StudyResearch Lab Assistant to work in the Vandegrift research lab within the department this academic year. The Research Assistant performs a variety of duties: Assist in the completion of a USDA funded effort to better describe the host range and viral diversity of SARSCoV2 in nonhuman mammals. They will be expected to set and check traps record data for animal handlers label tubes autoclave supplies and eventually/hopefully collect samples themselves. They will also help in the lab by doing dissections organizing samples and assisting theresearch technician in the completion of tasks. This is a rain or shine (mostly) fieldwork position that requires early mornings late evenings and some weekend work. It is a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of disease ecology and epidemiology and will look great on your resume. The hours of this position will vary based off field work needs. Hours will vary on a weekly basis; questions regarding work hours and variability can be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.
