Position Summary
The Department of Pediatrics Division of General Ambulatory Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in New Orleans is seeking an academic Pediatrician to join our faculty group. The Division of General Ambulatory Pediatrics takes pride in training all Pediatric residents at LSU Health Medical Students Physician Assistant Students and others. Our team provides outpatient care in pediatric primary care clinics for resident continuity clinics and medical student teaching with Childrens Hospital New Orleans and DePaul Health. We provide inpatient WellNewborn care at Touro Infirmary. We are involved in the education of the largest group of medical students and pediatric residents in the state. The Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans is dedicated to excellence in patient care mastery in teaching and continuous learning. The Department boasts approximately eighty faculty members representing all pediatric subspecialties. Training programs include an annual medical school class of two hundred and approximately one hundred postgraduate trainees in categorical pediatrics medicinepediatrics child neurology combined pediatrics and emergency medicine and most pediatric subspecialty fellowship areas. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor Associate Professor or Professor (nontenure clinical track) with rank to be determined by the candidates credentials and experience. The successful candidate will participate in a broad range of activities. Primary clinical responsibilities of the position will occur in the new Academic Pediatric Clinic. Educational responsibilities include supervision and instruction of medical students residents and other learners from the multidisciplinary LSUHSC community. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the advancement of scholarly or educational activities within the Department. There are abundant opportunities for educational clinical translational and quality and outcomes research initiatives across the health sciences center. The Department of Pediatrics is located predominantly at Childrens Hospital of New Orleans. Childrens Hospital is Louisianas only freestanding childrens hospital. The 247bed tertiary care teaching and clinical care complex is located in the heart of New Orleans. Childrens Hospital has recently completed the major phases of a 5 year and $225 million expansion project.
