Summary
Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager and daily shift supervision by the RN the Emergency Department Technician 2 is responsible for clerical and patient customer service support functions in the Walk In Urgent Care Center as part of the patient care team. The ED Tech 2 must hold an EMTI certification in order to insert and remove Intravenous catheters under the supervision of the registered nurse.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification Registration & Licensure
Certification required: Emergency Medical TechnicianIntermediate (EMTI) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Experience
Previous direct patient care experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN).
Maintains skill level to perform patient care tasks as delegated by the RN including the insertion of
peripheral intervenous catheters.
Collects laboratory specimens and processes specimens in Point of Care Testing (POCT) area.
Maintains department supplies and equipment.
Assists with clerical duties.
Complies with department and hospital requirements.
Performs additional duties and contributes to the growth of the department and others.
