This position is a multilevel/grade position open to applicants with varying skills levels we encourage all interested applicants to successful candidate will have some experience supporting people who have experienced trauma and will be supported to grow their skills in the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal adults and children who have been sexually ed or who are under the age of 10 years with problematic and sexually harmful behaviours (Safe Wayz) and their nonoffending family members.
You will join a highly supportive tertiary trauma counselling team providing both crisis and ongoing counselling interventions alongside community education and other prevention focused activities. The service adopts a strengthbased family focussed and culturally centred traumainformed approach to working with children and families.
The Aboriginal Sexual Counsellor will support engagement with Aboriginal communities stakeholders and clients; also providing cultural consultation to support nonAboriginal clinicians working with First Nations children and families where appropriate. Professional development will be provided alongside generous clinical supervision cultural supervision and peer supervision arrangements. The team will suit clinicians who enjoy diverse fast paced clientcentred work with a strong dedication to reducing violence in the lives of individuals and communities whilst contributing to the decolonisation of NSW Health services.

What you will bring to the role:
- This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. Exemption is claimed under Section 14d of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1977. Aboriginal applicants must demonstrate Aboriginality in addition to addressing the Selection Criteria. Being female is recognized as a genuine occupation qualification for this position and is authorized under section 312h) of the AntiDiscrimination Act 1977.
- Accepted qualifications include: Qualification in Social Work which provides eligibility for full membership to Australian Association of Social Workers or Psychology: General registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and for Senior Psychologist a current Senior Psychologist or eligible for Senior Psychologist grading (with no less than 12 months service at the 9th year of service and thereafter rate) and for Clinical Psychologist an accredited Masters or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with endorsement or working towards endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.
- Experience providing culturally appropriate trauma focused therapeutic supports for Aboriginal individuals and families in regards to sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections engagement and collaborations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between issues of intergenerational trauma colonisation sexual domestic violence and child protection.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a therapeutic team and to manage competing tasks in a busy service.
- Current Drivers Licence and ability to attend Nepean Hospital within 1 hour to participate in the 24/7 crisis oncall service.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.
