Position Summary
The Data Analyst/Programmer reports directly to the Director of Advancement Services and is responsible for the design implementation and maintenance of Institutional Advancements (IA) database and reporting systems. The position supports various departments within the divisions of Institutional Advancement College Relations and partners with STS and software vendors to meet data and reporting needs accurately and efficiently. The ability to provide fundraising reports retrieve data accurately and in a timely manner the maintenance of hardware and software and the ability to troubleshoot problems are of primary importance to this role. The Data Analyst/Programmer will lead the division in all major data projects included but not limited to database cleanup updates upgrades and conversions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop test and provide reports in a timely manner in support of all programs within the divisions of Institutional Advancement and College Relations (and other areas as directed); Maintain and enhance the reporting tools used to extract data from the database. Perform database administration/programming functions such as; building and updating fields subroutines application customization database structures and report generation. Create and design custom reports dashboards visualizations and database programs. Design implement modify and maintain operational reports dashboards and data visualizations to track progress of fundraising programs toward fiscal year goals. Translate data into useful tools for development and alumnae affairs staff. Organize and maintain analyses and reports for regular and systematic dissemination. Design data structures and maintain integrity in databases based on a thorough understanding of the structure of current databases and of the divisions various fundraising programs. Serve as liaison with STS database vendors third party consultants for technical problems associated with the database application and server environment and coordinate contact and corrective actions. Represent Institutional Advancement regarding all matters pertaining to the campuswide enterprise system. Implement and manage the integration of all user interfaces with administrative applications coordinate disk space planning and management and monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum performance. Assist with the identification of and conversion to a new fundraising database including system definitions creation of business rules conversion timeline testing and . Maintain documentation on all customizations with special attention to reducing the impact of database patches and new release loads. Develop and validate statistical models for forecasting fiscal year end progress using historical trend data and information from industry peers. Analyze and interpret data to identify issues and recommend appropriate methods to resolve; develop and implement predictive models for identifying new prospects for the Colleges fundraising efforts. Work with Prospect Research team members to validate results and track success of proactive identification efforts. Develop a prospect scoring system through data modeling and research of engagement giving and external data. Collect data and maintain ongoing peer benchmarking studies on a variety of aspects in development; oversee the Colleges participation in various institutional surveys relevant to fundraising and alumnae affairs programs. Must be available for evening and weekend work.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree (B.A./B.S. and at least three years related experience required. Experience in higher education fundraising with major fundraising database systems such as Raisers Edge Ellucian Banner Salesforce etc. preferred. The work of this position requires expertise in a variety of analytical and database reporting software including Microsoft Excel Access software expertise in SQL report writing especially using Crystal Reports and Argos/Cognos Reporting Tableau software statistical analysis and forecasting programs (e.g. SPSS SAS Crystal Ball Forecast Pro) and presentation. Experience implementing results of electronic donor screening and segmenting initiatives preferred. The incumbent must have considerable working knowledge of and ability in coding Oracle and one or more database management systems such as MySQL MS SQL Server PL/ SQL and/or DB2 for efficient data retrieval in a complex scheme stored procedures triggers and server side scripting; knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g Oracle PL/ SQL Oracle Forms Oracle Developer and Oracle VPD facility; familiarity with relational databases and ability to design reports from databases. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in dealing with information and working with members of the Senior Team departments and divisions across campus along with external vendors. Incumbent will exemplify successful experience in developing directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals.
Preferred Qualifications
