Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:Works under the very general direction of the Principal Investigator. Performs the full scope of management responsibilities in a research laboratory including fiscal/budget management supervision of staff activities inventory management etc. Independently performs highly sophisticated experiments. Participates with the Principal Investigator in the design of experimental protocols. Evaluates clinical application of research projects and strategies for commercialization. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: for financial management of research lab. Participates in grant writing and proposal development develops budgets analyzes trends and produces clinical application of research projects and develops products and strategies for out independent research projects which involve the of highly sophisticated on work in progress at weekly seminars and interprets experiment results in conference with other to scientific literature and may present the results at hospital and outside operation of the laboratory including overseeing the use of laboratory funds supply inventory and staff all lab personnel including hiring firing performance evaluation disciplinary action orientation and for the coordination of regulatory and compliance activities for the staff in specialized lab tasks as required or assigned. Day ShiftQUALIFICATIONS:MS required Minimum of 7 years progressively more responsible research work experience. Prior supervisory experience required. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:High degree of computer literacy. Strong analytical and organizational skills detail oriented. Requires good oral and written communication skills Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities. Ability to methodically record data and to analyze data statistically. Ability to identify potential problems and troubleshoot solutions. Must have a broad knowledge of scientific principles biological structures and laboratory techniques. Ability to demonstrate professionalism. WORKING CONDITIONS:Laboratory environment SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:Responsible for supervising staff including hiring firing evaluating and disciplining. Will orient and train new staff members. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:Responsible for overall grants management of laboratory portfolio. Brigham and Womens Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
