About the Role


Reporting to the campus Principal the Assistant Principal at Highline plays an integral role in realizing our mission to inspire and empower students to achieve their highest potential. As an Assistant Principal youll play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence fostering a positive school culture and supporting the professional growth of our dedicated educators. Your leadership will not only impact the lives of our students but also contribute to the overall success and reputation of our school within the community. Outcomes:

The Assistant Principal of Culture will be responsible for achieving the following outcomes within the first year:

  1. Leads Behavior Support & MTSS Implementation:
    • Implements and refines a MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) for behavior to ensure all students receive the interventions and supports needed for success.
    • Works collaboratively with teachers to build strong proactive classroom management systems grounded in restorative justice practices.
    • Ensures discipline is fair equitable and aligned with the schools mission and values.
  2. Supports SPED & Mental Health Team Leadership:
    • Serves as a key liaison for the SPED team ensuring compliance collaboration and effective support for students with IEPs and 504 plans.
    • Leads the schools mental health team to proactively support student wellbeing and crisis response.
    • Builds strong systems to foster communication and collaboration between SPED general education and mental health teams.
  3. Drives SocialEmotional Learning & REACH Core Values Program:
    • Leads the implementation and integration of Highlines SEL program ensuring students develop selfawareness relationship skills and emotional regulation strategies.
    • Oversees the REACH Core Values program ensuring values are embedded in daily student and staff experiences.
    • Develops school wide initiatives and professional development opportunities to strengthen a culture of respect inclusion and personal excellence.
  4. Builds a Culture of High Expectations & Belonging:
    • Ensures a schoolwide culture where all students and staff feel a sense of belonging safety and motivation to excel.
    • Supports staff in developing a growth mindset approach to student discipline behavior interventions and SEL instruction.
    • Works with the admin team to hire and retain staff who embody the schools mission values and commitment to equity.
  5. Demonstrates Leadership Excellence:
    • Scores Proficient or above on all core competencies of the Assistant Principal position rubric.
    • Serves as a thought partner to the Principal and leadership team contributing to strategic planning and decisionmaking that strengthens Highlines impact.

Facilitates delivery of solutions that meet expressed and unexpressed needs with a genuine desire to assist others and move the boulders in the road that impede success in the classroom and the school environment.


  • Culture Add and Equity Understands importance of Highline Academy being a diverse equitable and inclusive organization; shows daily commitment to diversity and mission including various perspectives in work. Qualifications


  • 4 years classroom teacher experience including working with students in Title I schools and multilingual learners (charter school experience preferred)
  • Relevant school leadership experience (minimally as a Dean Restorative Practices Coordinator or Assistant Principal)
  • Proven experience in attaining outstanding academic results for students
  • Experienced and highly effective in using data analysis to drive instructional decisions and coaching
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in considering issues of marginalization and equity in education
  • Demonstrated technology skills including experience with GSuite
  • Bachelors degree required with preference for advanced degree in curriculum and instruction leadership or education
  • Teaching or social work License required at minimum preference for administrative license or special education license
