Phlebotomy experience a plus

GENERALSUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates vehicles in accordance with PartnersHealthcare System policies as well as in accordance with applicable federalstate and local laws and regulations.
Inspects vehicles at the beginning and end of eachshift to ensure operating effectiveness. (A walkaround inspection of allsafetyrelated items is included in the inspection.
Assesses and reports any bus damage inoperative orinoperable bus equipment to the Donor Recruitment Supervisor and NursingDirector Kraft Family Blood Donor Center immediately
Maintains the safety and integrity of the interior ofthe vehicle while the vehicle is under operators control.
Conducts him/herself in accordance with all applicablehospital policies including Motor Carrier Safety 4/3/94 or asamended).
Assists in the management of supplies and equipment.
Requires occasional lifting of objects weighing up to50 lbs.
Transports donor staff safely to the Blood Donationsite on an established route as needed.
When arriving at destinations levels the bus withleveling jacks checks the wheels puts the stairs down at the entranceremoves all snow and ice from bus stairs whenever necessary to ensure thesafety of the donors and the staff.
Assists staff and donors to safely board and alightfrom the vehicle as needed.
Set up and maintains snack supplies in donorrefreshment area.
Performs Whole Blood Phlebotomyif qualified and appropriate.
Receives sample tubes andunits from the collection staff
Performs specific duties asfollows once Whole Blood is collected:
Ensures Whole Blood Unitnumber labels are in place on the Primary and Satellite bags.
Strips the collect lineto ensure no clot formation; Heat seals the tubing to form segments.
Stores the whole bloodunits in the blood transport cooler.
Offers refreshments to thedonors and ensures theyre stable before leaving the bus.
Assists the collectionstaff in care of donors with adversereactions.
Accompanies staff to treatadverse reactions in the host building.
Assist staff in removingsupplies and trash and all BioHazardous Waste in a safe and appropriate manneraccording.
At the holding lot ensures the bus is plugged in tothe appropriate outlets in the building.
Works with Donor Recruitment Supervisor and LeadMobile Driver to maintain schedules and review established routes forefficiency and safety. Arranges for alternate routes if detours are discretion to deviate from prescribed routes when environmental conditionsand/or special events create traffic congestion.
Maintains and stocks Blood Donor Van for use asappropriate
Load and setup using the Blood Donor Van and materialsas needed
Prepare van for Blood Drives as needed
Assist with computer and printer setup and repairs onmobile drives as requested by the Charge Nurse
