Our Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) project of Capital Projects Group is seeking a Senior Project Manager Stations & Facilities to provide comprehensive engineering and project management services associated with the delivery of Stations & Facilities on the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Project.The position will be responsible for contract and schedule management construction quality site safety and security project financial accountability project deliverables and technical input to program communications and intergovernmental relations during all stages of construction of the projects.
What will I be doing
- Provides technical leadership in project delivery of Stations & Facilities from design development construction through to commissioning and handover within scope on budget and on schedule; oversees project activities to ensure compliance with good project management and construction practices as well as corporate design standards and applicable municipal provincial and federal codes; ensures project implementation by maintaining the safety quality and environmental compliance
- Leads assigned staff in management of risks and issues. Identifies and effectively manages the interface and integration risks between the Stations & Facilities and other activities of Eglinton West Extension project.
- Leads project controls teams in managing budget allocations contract administration and project schedule including regular reporting of key performance indicators timely reporting of any cost security safety human resources or project management issues
- Monitors objectives related to engineering design standards/design review technical specifications document control budget and work breakdown structures project schedules resource prioritization and staffing requirements
- Manages contractors construction plans and schedules for completeness workability and alignment with contract documents; oversees contractors compliance to all contract provisions including monitoring the contractor safety quality environmental compliance cost and schedule performance
- Manages activities within budget allocations and schedules including timely reporting of financial and performance results and any significant cost security safety human resources or project management issues
- Ensures Metrolinxs corporate policies relating to the construction safety are adhered to. Participates in employers safety assurance and management programs
- Communicates effectively with MX/IO internal stakeholders City of Toronto Toronto Regional Conservation Authority Agencies Utility companies etc. in defining project requirements developing project implementation plans and ensuring engagement during detailed design construction commissioning and handover phases. Also ensures timely and effective communication and consultation with external stakeholders community groups and elected officials
- Leads direct reporting Metrolinx staff and indirectly reporting staff of engineering consultants and construction contractors in the design and construction of infrastructure related to the RT (Rapid Transit) program to achieve program milestones and deliverables that are consistent with quality standards throughout the full project life cycle
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Demonstrates progressively responsible experience in capital project management and implementation including experience managing large complex multiyear transit projects preferably in tunneling
- A University degree in Engineering preferably in related discipline e.g. civil structural geotechnical transportation
- registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset
- PMP certification is an asset
- Analytical and problem solving skills to interpret and apply specifications contracts design documents test plans and coordinate contracted technical projects
- Advanced knowledge of project management and change management practices; including work planning monitoring and evaluation expertise to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal negotiation and oral/written/presentation skills
- A valid Ontario Class G drivers license is required to travel to various site locations meetings operational facilities etc. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
