Position Summary
Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans is seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor as faculty in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department. This is a fulltime position on a nontenure track as an assistant or associate level to be based in Baton Rouge. The OMS departments primary responsibility is the training and development of surgical trainees providing didactic instruction clinical supervision for residents externs medical and dental students in the LSU School of Dentistry affiliated hospital clinics ORs as well as meeting the OMS treatment needs of the community. Our 6year integrated OMS MD residency program is regarded as one of the busiest and best CODA accredited training programs in the country. The department has a long history of recruiting quality students/residents and graduating toprated clinicians. Candidates will also have the option to participate in the Faculty Practice provide call coverage at our level 1 trauma University Medical Center New Orleans affiliated hospitals and LSU School of Dentistry. Salary/rank commensurate with experience/qualifications. A past record of scholarly activity is desirable and the pursuit of scholarly activity is expected. Numerous opportunities for collaboration exist within the school of dentistry and the LSU Health Science Center at New Orleans. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to teaching mentoring leadership patient care service and scholarship. The ability to practice full scope and proficiency in facial trauma surgery is critical. Preference will be given to those with a special interest and experience in orthognathic and temporomandibular joint surgery.
