Full timePosition Summary and Qualifications:
The Saint Josephs University Physician Assistant program is part of the School of Health Professions. This is a 12month nontenuretrack faculty position with additional responsibilities as the Department Chair/Program Director. Per accreditation standards the incumbent will dedicate approximately 80 of their time to administrative responsibilities as the Department Chair/Program Director. This includes responsibility for the administration organization oversight and ongoing planning development and implementation of the Graduate Physician Assistant Program.Note to Applicants: Please submit a Resume/CV and cover letter under the Resume/CV upload field.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Department Chair/Program Director):
Accreditation
Ensure continuous compliance with the ARCPA Standards and policies and Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements
Prepares and submits required ARCPA documents and reports
Oversee and coordinate the programs continuous selfstudy activities including programmatic review and analysis
Enforce established educational and administrative policies direct change in or development of new policies
Establish agendas for and chair department meetings
Manage the Program budget
Personnel Management
Coordinate faculty/staff search and recruitment committees
Consult with the dean of the college regarding authorization to fill any new or vacated department faculty and staff positions
Initiate and supervise the recruitment of new faculty and staff in accordance with the departments programmatic needs and the policies and procedures of the university
Make recommendations to the dean regarding the appointment academic rank and salary of new faculty members (full and parttime)
Orient new faculty and staff members on departmental duties and policies as well as college and university policies and procedures
Support the development and integration of new faculty as teachers researchers and members of the community
Supervise and assign responsibilities to the medical director program faculty and administrative staff; and be responsive to personnelrelated issues and concerns
Supervision of the following positions: Vice Chair/Associate Program Director Medical Director Director of Academic Education Director of Clinical Education Principal Faculty 3 Simulation Laboratory staff (parttime) Assessment and Enrollment Counselor and Program Coordinator.
Annually evaluate the performance of each faculty and staff member relative to individual goals and objectives and record the outcomes of the performance review.
Provide advice and guidance to faculty and staff in all areas of their development.
Advise and support faculty members regarding promotion
Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff and support their professional development with appropriate resources
Participate and encourage faculty participation in program related grant or research projects
Engage and encourage faculty participation in scholarly and community service activities
Serve as a source of information about policies and procedures to all faculty members
Recruit orient supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty
Curriculum
Accept overall responsibility for curriculum content and structure as well as academic and clinical performance of Program students and graduates
Participate in the instruction and evaluation of both didactic and clinical phase students
Student Affairs
Participate in the recruitment screening and selection of students
Monitor student advisory system
Departmental Leadership
Create and maintain an environment which is supportive of the aims and needs of the students faculty and staff of the department and its programs as well as the aims and needs of the college and university
Communicate the interests needs contributions and views of department faculty to the dean of the college and where appropriate to other members of the university
Communicate the interests needs contributions and views of the dean and where appropriate other members of the university to the departmental faculty staff and students
Professional Leadership
Serve as Program representative and spokesperson to the University community and profession
Attend local and national conferences pertinent to physician assistant education and practice
Participate in national state and/or local leadership activities relevant to physician assistant education and practice
Participate in releasetime to maintain clinical expertise and participate in scholarly activity
Serve on University committees as assigned
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Faculty):
Participate in development and revisions of didactic and clinical learning objectives examinations and evaluation methodology/tools
Coordinate teach and/or evaluate instruction in clinical medicine core/professional courses and clinical experiences as assigned by the Academic Coordinator Clinical Coordinator or Program Director
Assist Academic Coordinator in creating and maintaining didactic academic schedule
Maintain student advisory groups and report on each advisees academic progress
Participate in recruitment screening and selection of prospective students
Facilitate potential partnerships with local state and regional medical facilities for lectures adjunct faculty preceptors and clinical site development in conjunction with the Clinical Coordinator
Advocate for the program and the Physician Assistant profession within the medical and academic communities including public relations and promotions
Participate in program related faculty/staff search committees
Participate in regular faculty meetings retreats program and University committees and professional organizations
Attend local state and national conferences and designated programs pertinent to physician assistant education and practice to enhance teaching management and/or clinical abilities
Partake in release time to pursue advanced degrees parttime clinical work to retain clinical expertise or other faculty development activities
Engage in scholarly activities community service and program related grant or research projects
Assist the Program Director in the coordination and production of information related to program accreditation to ensure the ARCPA Standards are met and maintained
Administrative and functional supervision exercised over support staff as determined by the Program Director.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
Must be a physician assistant holding current NCCPA certification
Must hold at least a Masters degree doctorate preferred
Must have previous experience in physician assistant education minimum 3 years fulltime;
Must have demonstrated leadership/management skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills including good oral and written communication abilities
Must have proactive problemsolving skills
Must have a familiarity with common office and academic software
Physical Requirements &/or Unusual Work Hours:
Participation in university functions such as open house accepted student day generally scheduled on weekends and/or evenings
