POSITION TITLE:Assistant to the Technical Supervisor TheatrePOSITION SUMMARY
Provides support to the Technical Supervisor Theatre by assisting in the box office for ticket sales and doing basic bookkeeping. Acts as a stage manager and provides technical support for on and off campus user groups especially Fine Arts Department music and theatrical events particularly on weekends and evenings. Under the supervision of the Technical Superior Theatre constructs and/or acquires scenery properties costumes light sound and any other technical aspects of theatrical production. Assists in the distribution of any theatrical mailings. Flexible schedule including weekends and evening work hours are required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Staff and/or act as Stage Manager for weekend and evening events by on and off campus users including but not limited to theatrical productions and music events.
2. Provide technical assistance for on and off campus groups using the Fine Arts theatre.
3. Serve as CoTechnical Director in planning of the construction of scenic and property pieces.
4. Assist in the construction and/or acquire scenic designs and properties lighting designs costume designs and sound designs under the direction of the Technical Director and/or designers.
5. Assist in box office activities including but not limited to sales reservations and basic bookkeeping.
6. Assist in the distribution and/or the simple graphic designs for theatrical publications.
7. Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associates degree or equivalent theatre production experience.
2. Direct experience in Technical Theatre productions.
3. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
4. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
5. Demonstrated commitment to the colleges core values of respect and inclusion sustainability integrity collaboration humor and wellbeing innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Computer skills including the use of Office Suite for Windows.
2. Experience with box office operations.
3. Bachelors Degree in Theatre.
4. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
5. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
4. Ability to climb a ladder.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in an office environment.
2. Duties are performed in construction site environment including the use of aerial lifts scaffolding ladders and cat walks.
3. Work up to 28 hours
