Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of related equipment. Incumbents in this position may also be required to obtain a Class III Operator Class II Operator or Class I Operator.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical panels

Read and understand electrical schematics and technical manuals

Perform lift station and building maintenance

Maintain a continuous and efficient plant performance to ensure a safe and clean effluent; maintain accurate records of equipment

Check SCADA for alarms and problems

Inspect maintain and operate satellite treatment plants

Assist with removing blockages and repairing broken lines

Ability to be oncall as needed

Perform building maintenance

Performs other related duties as assigned

Ability to troubleshoot and repair pumps

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of general maintenance practices.

Skill in the use of hand tools.

Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.

Knowledge of water & wastewater treatment plant operating principles practices and equipment.

Knowledge of chemical reactions.

Knowledge of laboratory and field sampling techniques.

Knowledge of relevant state and federal guidelines.

Knowledge of safety practices and protocols.

Skill in the use of PLC computers and jobrelated software programs.

Skill in oral and written communication

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Industrial Electrical and Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spotchecks completed work for compliance with procedures accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES: Guidelines include state and federal regulations sampling guidelines and Authority rules and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related plant operation duties. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.

SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to perform maintenance and repair work and assist in the operations of water and wastewater treatment. Successful performance contributes to the effectiveness of plant operations.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typical with coworkers state and federal regulatory officials and members of the general public.

PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typical to give or exchange information resolve problems and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting standing walking or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects climbs ladders uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and distinguishes between shades of color.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed outdoors at lift stations treatment plants stockroom warehouse and in an office. The employee may be exposed to noise contagious or infectious diseases irritating chemicals confined spaces and frequent cold or inclement weather.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

o Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work in addition to basic skills typically associated with high school education.

o Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

o Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated (Class A CDL).

o Possession of or ability to readily obtain an appropriate statecertified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution as appropriate.

o High School Diploma or GED.
