JOB TITLE: Trades Assistant Firearms Technologies
DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB: Firearms Technologies Occupational Trades FVCC Kalispell Campus
ELIGIBILITY: Students must be Work Study Eligible (as determined by Financial Aid)
START DATE: This position will start Fall Semester 2024
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: Academic Calendar Year 2024/2025
PAY RANGE: $13.00 $14.00 per hour depending on experience
WORK SCHEDULE: Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may work up to 19 hours per week.
DRESS CODE: Long pants with temperatureresistant materials and no loose clothing; long hair must be restrained; closedtoed shoes; any required safety equipment is provided by supervisor.
POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE: Supports the Firearms Technologies Department and/or instructors
POSITION DUTIES: Under the supervision of the supervisor performs general Firearms/Machiningbay housekeeping. Duties may include: - Performs machining and repairs as well as assisting instructors as needed
- Provides general maintenance and cleaning
- Designs and constructs instructional demonstration aids
- May perform other like duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester and
- Must have successfully completed FT10001
- Ability to work with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment and
- Ability to problemsolve and follow directions and be selfmotivated and
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and
- Ability to consistently provide quality customer service to customers visitors and coworkers and
- Possesses a cooperative spirit in working with peers supervisors students and public
STUDENTSKILL DEVELOPMENT: Operation of firearms and equipment read interpret and create design drawings communication skills critical thinking effective reasoning planning collaboration
PREDICTED OUTCOME: Practical competence critical thinking collaboration communicating effectively technological competence STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES: - Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six 6 credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
- Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
- Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
- Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
