American InternationalUniversity (AIU) is looking for dynamic and engaged fulltime faculty for its School of Architecture and Design. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students building successful learning environments with students and collaboratively engaging with faculty and mentoring students.

AIUinvites applicants for a fulltime Faculty (Assistant Associate) appointment in the Interior Design department. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be an active member of the design field. The individual will also be able to utilize and teach both studio coursework as well as technical or supplemental courses and demonstrate experience with standard industry tools including AutoCAD Revit and 3D Max. Also the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The position carries the expectation for research and school andUniversityservice in addition to teaching responsibilities.

Candidates should demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional Interior Design curriculum and be able to work within a small program specialized in personal attention. Also we expect leadership in undergraduate programs curriculum development mentoring and startups. Qualifications:

Teaching and Learning Support

• University teaching experienceis a must.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship
• Interest and experience working effectively with a diverse university community.
• Demonstrate excellence in teaching related to their specific expertise within the professional Interior Design curriculum.
• Ability to update and develop professionally through further education and training.
• Sound knowledge of the material spatial and experiential discipline of Interior Design.
• Sound knowledge of producing a design strategy through analyzing the existing building and composing of the Interior Design elements of Object Space and Experience.

Research and Scholarship

• Active in academic research and have a good record of international publications.
• Leadership in undergraduate programs curriculum development mentoring and startups.
• A sound understanding of research/innovation and scholarly activity.
• Prepare presentations at local national international academic and practitioner conferences.
• Ability to organize and lead an exhibition in appropriate events of students works.

Communication

• Effective communication skills in English
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a variety of disciplines.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Ability to provide activities for students that encourage learning abilities.
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for students.

Experience:

• Interior Design: 5 years (Required)
• University Teaching: 5 years (Required)

Education:

• PhD degree in Interior Design

Language:

• English (Required)
