Job Description
Do you have Maintenance experience and are looking for a 1st first shift opportunity If so then you are exactly the kind of person we want to grow with our team! Maintenance Technicians repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as printing presses saddle stitcher/trimmers cutters folders motors pneumatic tools conveyor systems heating/air conditioning systems compressed air systems and related binding/finishing and prepress production machines and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical failures in a timely manner.
- Studies blueprints sketches machine parts or specifications.
- Be able to dismantle repair and reassemble equipment or machines.
- Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
- Repairs or replaces defective parts
- Installs special functional and structural parts in devices
- Assembles and test operates machinery and equipment to verify correction of malfunction
- Coordinates with manager and assists with production operators timely preventative maintenance and predictive parts replacement and repair
- Sets up and operates drill press grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
- Repairs electrical equipment or replaces faulty wiring switches or relays as qualified to perform
- Coordinates for outside services when needed
- Initiates purchase orders for parts repairs or replacement equipment or pieces
- Has a good working knowledge but not limited to hydraulics systems electrical HVAC water pumps pneumatics and compressed air systems.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and EPA federal and state rules regulations policies and guidelines and company safety rules in the plant
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Oneyear certificate from college or technical school and three to five years of related experience and/or training or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole number common fractions and decimals.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership organization and communication are necessary
- Ability to anticipate problems and implement appropriate preventative measures
- Ability to develop new techniques for work processes
- Must be able to give technical direction to others and project leadership over multiple safety teams
- Ability to redirect to issues as they emerge and reprioritize based on current business conditions
- Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to multitask
Physical Requirements
- Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing pulling reaching lifting squatting kneeling and bending
- Pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs
- Requires fine motor hand and arm movement manual dexterity and coordination
- Requires near visual acuity
- Requires working around and operating departmental equipment
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the facility
- Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances
