PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct and manage instructional program and supervise operations and personnel at campus level. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Oversee compliance with district policies success of instructional programs and operation of all campus activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
TEA certification requirements
Masters degree in Educational Administration
Texas Midmanagement or other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (TTESS) Appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to coordinate campus functions
Ability to interpret policy procedures and data
Strong organizational communication public relations and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three years of classroom teacher experience required
Three years of administrative experience required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management
- Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions.
- Regularly consult the campuslevel committee about planning operation supervision and evaluation of campus education programs.
- Include students parents and community representatives in school planning process when appropriate.
School or Organization Morale
- Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
- Foster collegiality among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision making process.
- Provide for twoway communication with superintendent staff students parents and community.
- Communicate and promote expectations for highlevel performance to the school community.
- Recognize excellence and achievement.
- Ensure the effective and quick resolution of conflicts.
- Use sensitivity and fairness with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
School or Organization Improvement
- Build a common vision for school improvement with staff.
- Direct planning activities and implement programs for staff to ensure attainment of the schools mission.
- Identify analyze and apply research findings (e.g. effective school correlates) to promote school improvement.
- Develop and set annual campus performance objectives for each of the Academic Excellence Indicators using the campus planning process and sitebased decision making committee.
- Develop maintain and use information systems and records necessary to show campus progress on performance objectives which address each Academic Excellence Indicator.
Personnel Management
- Interview recommend and orient new staff.
- Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
- Define expectations for staff performance with regard to instructional strategies classroom management and communication with the public staff development and other components as identified in the TTESS.
- Observe employee performance record observations and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
- Assign campus personnel as needed.
- Make recommendations to superintendent on termination suspension or nonrenewal of employees assigned to campus.
- Work with campuslevel planning and decisionmaking committees to plan professional development activities.
- Confer with subordinates regarding their professional growth. Work collaboratively to develop and accomplish professional improvement goals.
Management of Fiscal Administrative and Facilities Functions
- Comply with district policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations affecting the schools.
- Develop campus budgets based on documented program needs assessments estimated enrollment personnel and other fiscal needs. Keep programs within budget limits maintain fiscal control and accurately report fiscal information.
- Compile and maintain accurate reports records and other documents on a timely basis.
- Supervise and manage the maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean orderly and safe campus.
Student Management
- Collaborate with the school community to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly enforced and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with Student Code of Conduct.
- Conduct conferences related to student and/or school issues with parents students teachers and other personnel as needed.
Professional Growth and Development
- Develop professional skills as appropriate to job assignment.
- Demonstrate professional ethical responsible behavior and serve as a role model for all campus staff.
School or Community Relations
- Articulate the schools mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques/strategies/activities to encourage community and parental involvement.
Other
- Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s) teacher(s) counselor(s) librarian(s) instructional aides clerical support staff custodians and others as assigned.
