THE POSITION
Reporting to the Assistant Principal the building substitute instructs students and facilitates student learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
Specifically they will be responsible for:
- A Bridge Boston Charter School School Building Substitute Teacher can expect to:
- Promote and support the schools mission and values reflecting a deep respect for all students families and staff;
- Provide classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans;
- Create a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students;
- Maintain a safe and orderly environment;
- Maintain established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned;
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities;
- Maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage selfdiscipline and responsibility communicates effectively with parents when needed;
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated;
- Participate in myriad forms of professional development as scheduled for all faculty; and
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required.
- Direct experience working with children serving underserved communities in a supervisory capacity preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills written and verbal with different audiences including students parents/guardians and staff.
- Value of diversity and demonstration of cultural competence and sensitivity; experience in supporting diverse needs and working with diverse populations.
- Adaptive flexible and resourceful problem solver; customerservice orientation.
- Detailoriented and organized;
- Strong team player and experience working collaboratively.
- Lifelong learner; willingness to make and learn from mistakes; passion for learning new things.
- Sense of humor.
- Bilingual Spanish HaitianCreole or Cape Verdean Creole highly desirable.
