**MWF 7:305 PM Tues 85PM Thurs 812PM**Reports to: Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator with input from assigned physician(s) nurses or other health care providers. Responsible for delivering the highest quality service to patients while contributing to the smooth functioning of practice operations.

Job Summary:The Medical Assistant provides high quality direct patient care in a teambased model to our BIDHC patients andsupportssmoothandefficientadministrativeandclinicalpracticeoperations.TheMedicalAssistanthastheabilitytoworkwithpeoplefromdifferentbackgroundsandrespectsthebeliefsofallpatientsandteammembers.ReportstothePracticeManager.
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individualsassignedtothisposition.Theyarenotintendedtobeanexhaustivelistofalldutiesresponsibilitiesandskillsrequiredofthisposition.
PrimaryResponsibilities:
1.Through relationship development and care team coordination contributes to the BIDHC patient practice and organizationalgoals.Developslongtermempatheticrelationshipswithpatientsfamiliesandcolleaguestocontributetopatientcare.
2.Assists patient over the course of their visit: facilitates timely flow and informs patient and provider of any delay in a timelymannerengageswithpatientonvisitreasonupdatesmedicationandallergylistsreviewsscreeningquestions(i.e.PHQ9)actsasliaisonbetweenpatientandpracticestafftoensureoptimalflowandservicedelivery.
3.Communicatesclearlywithpatientandteam:provideshandofftoproviderenteringtheexamroom(e.g.reasonforthevisitabnormalvitalspatientstories).
4.Performsmedicalassistingdutiesunderpropersupervisionwhichmayincludebutarenotlimitedto:obtainingaccuratevitalsigns height and weight measurements performing EKGs point of care testing phlebotomy administering immunizations(certifiedMAsonly)andassistingduringroutineprocedures.
5.EssentialtoPopulationHealtheffortsbyleadingconversationstomeetqualityandpopulationhealthgoalsthroughoutreachandhealth coaching. Monitors practice activity both electronically and in person. Identifies addresses and conducts outreach topatients with health maintenance or chronic disease management needs. Assists with related data gathering and basic healthcoaching.
6.Monitorsordersand/ormaintainsmedicalequipmentandsuppliesensuringtheyarecleansterilizedstockedandwithinexpirationdates.Adherestocontrolstandards.Maintainsanunobstructedareaforpatientaccess.
7.Workswithintheelectronichealthrecordsystem(EHR)toqueueprescriptionrenewalsandaddnewmedicationsforreviewbyalicensed provider. As directed by a clinician enters/scribes orders for tests services or appointments in the EHR. Accuratelydocumentstasksperformedduringthevisitastheyarecompletedtoensureproperbilling.
8.Schedulesrelateddiagnosticandlabtestsmakingeveryreasonableefforttoaccommodatepatientandproviderneeds.Verifiespatientinsuranceincludingpriorauthorizationsreferralsandprecertifications.
9.IdentifiesOSHAcomplianceissues.Ensurespatientsafetypracticestoprevent/eliminateriskofpatientharm.Promptlyreportsadversepatienteventsandnearmisses.EnsuresthatPatientHealthInformation (PHI)isonlyusedforpurposesofpatientTPO(treatmentpaymentanrations).
RequiredQualifications:
1.HighSchooldiplomaorGEDrequired.BachelorsdegreeinHealthSciencepreferred.
2.LicenseMedicalAssistantCertificatepreferredorRegistrationCertifiedNursingAssistantpreferredorCertificate1EMTBasicLicensepreferredorCertificate2PhlebotomyCertificatepreferred.
3.01yearsrelatedworkexperiencerequired.
4.DemonstratedMedicalAssistant(MA)competencieswithinoneyearofhire.
5.Basicfamiliaritywithcomputers.Abilitytonavigateatabasiclevelwithinwebbasedapplications.
