The Institute of American Civics located within the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee Knoxville invites applications for tenuretrack faculty positions in American Civics to begin August 1 2025.
The Institute of AmericanCivicswascreatedtoenhanceeducationinpoliticseconomicsphilosophyAmerican history and American government as well as increase understanding of therights and responsibilities of American citizenship;fundamental democratic principles; and the ways in which those principles areexpressed in and through our federal state and local institutions. In pursuit of this mission the Institute invites applications from scholars at all ranks with teaching and research profiles in these subjects and related fields.Experience in student programming or outreach is desirable.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach classes and carry out a program of research and scholarship. They will also be expected to be actively engaged in the Institutes activities.
A Ph.D. in political science history economics or a related discipline conferred by the start date is required for this appointment.
