The role We are looking for an analyst consultant (suitable for new graduates Masters or PhDs and those at the start of their careerlooking to change to a purposedriven career or returning from a break to join our Energy Infrastructure Transition team. This role will provide a stepping stone into your engineering and consultancy career in an exciting and rapidly changing sector.

The Energy Infrastructure Transition team The team comprises a group of highly experienced professionals specialising in engineering technoeconomicand management consultancy services for the energy sector with particular emphasis on the power clean fuels waste and industrial decarbonisation sectors. We cover strategy to implementation and technical and economics aspects. We are a committed team of likeminded professionals with a growing portfolio of energy technology policy and strategy projects.

Key responsibilities From day one you will be part of a team supporting senior consultants in delivering projects to our clients. Successful applicants will have strong numeracy analytical and communication skills together with a proactive organised approach and a pride in the quality of their work. Over time you will be expected to develop your understanding of the energy sector including strategic technical commercial and regulatory aspects.

You will contribute to research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work. You will manage your time across several projects contributing inall phases from researching and analysing information and data through providing key contributions to the development of technoeconomic models to contributing to reports and presentations that are delivered to clients and/or supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work andwill liaise with other consultants and teams to incorporate your contribution into wider project outputs.

You will be supported throughout your time with us in your professional development to ensure you have the support and tools you need to deliver your role to a high quality and to support your development into the future.

Examples of projects you will be working on include:

  • Network reliability and connection studies.
  • Smart grid / network innovation projects.
  • Feasibility and implementation studies for renewable energy projects.
  • Developing technical and economic power sector regulatory frameworks in developing countries Green Hydrogen strategyfor a region or organisation.
  • Industrial process decarbonisation.
  • Strategies for carbon capture and storage (including negative emissions)
  • Heat decarbonisation solution identification including sizing for buildings and heat networks.
  • Energy from waste project feasibility.
  • Review and optimisation of local and regional waste strategy.
  • Smart grid / power network innovation projects.
  • Feasibility and implementation studies for renewable energy projects.
  • Transport energy feasibility and implementation projects for the road rail aviation and marine sectors.
  • Developing technical and economic energy sector regulatory frameworks in developing countries.

Skills and experience The position would suit candidates with:

  • A strong degree in Engineering preferably electrical power systems process / chemical energy decarbonisation or economic subjects with an interest in energy infrastructure and sustainable transition.
  • Excellent understanding of one or more of power systems renewable energy clean fuels industrial processes heat decarbonisation and waste and resource management.
  • Passionate about energy sector transition innovation and sustainability particularly including some or all of the scope of the Energy Infrastructure Transition team.
  • Familiar with Excel including data manipulation and modelling.
  • Able to effectively communicate and interact with colleagues and clients with excellent written and spoken communications including formal report writing digital communication and spoken communication skills in English.
  • The ability to breakdown complex research questions think creatively and solve novel problems.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable

  • Previous work internship or project experience working in the energy transition industry or working in consultancy.
  • Fluency in other languages particularly Spanish French or Portuguese.
  • Some experience using Python Homer Pro Helioscope PV/Syst DigSilent PSS/E Powerworld and/or PLEXOS.
