Madison College is recruiting a pool of highly motivated and qualified candidates to teach parttime Lab and Clinical experiences for the Nursing Assistant program. Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for Lab and Clinical instruction in the Nursing Assistant program at the college level. This includes implementing a relevant and progressive curriculum designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments delivering instruction of high quality assessing student learning supporting students and participating in limited college service activities at the department division and college levels.
A variety of schedules exist including weekdays weekends and evenings. Laboratory experiences are scheduled a total of 25clockhours with most shifts between 3 and 6 clock hours. Clinical experiences are scheduled a total of 24clockhours most scheduled as 4 6 or 8 clock hour shifts. Lab and clinical shifts longer than 4 hours are scheduled to include breaks.
This position reports to the Associate Dean School of Nursing.
Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or allinclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Responsible for handson instruction in the Nursing Assistant program laboratory and/or clinical experiences.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate to facetoface lab and clinical delivery.
3. Participate in inservice meetings staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Department.
4. Assist and advise students who have problems with course content career concerns and other matters that can impact performance.
5. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing record keeping providing grades on a timely basis evaluating student performance and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling etc.
6. Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System
7. Instructional provision in skills lab and/or clinical settings.
8. Demonstrate a commitment to the colleges mission vision and values.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies including learnercentered instruction assessment evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race gender and disability.
2. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
3. Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
4. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socioeconomic and racial backgrounds as well as individuals with disabilities.
5. Ability to interact with healthcare settings to establish partnerships.
6. Ability to safely use equipment and processes in care of vulnerable adults in longterm care environments
Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Nursing
AND
4000 hours) of work experience. At least 1 year of paid fulltime or parttime work experience as a Registered Nurse in a longterm care facility or facility providing care for an extended period of time to people living with chronic health conditions (e.g. rehabilitation unit swing bed unit inpatient skilled hospice etc..
License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of WI (or able to obtain Wisconsin license if currently licensed elsewhere).
OR Tested/Equivalent Experience:
1. Associate Degree in Nursing
2. Two 2 years of related work experience
3. The ability to obtain WI Department of Health Services approval to teach in a Nurse Aide Training program

Madison College utilizes pool postings for all Parttime Instructor positions. This posting is a pool position to collect applications for potential parttime instruction positions. Parttime Instructors are hired on a per course basis each semester and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester. The teaching hours for a parttime instructor vary and can include day evening and weekend classes.
