Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cost Planner to join our dynamic team. As a Cost Planner you will play a pivotal role in the financial planning and management of our largescale industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring our projects are completed on time and within budget contributing to the continued success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform drawing and specification analysis material takeoff and pricing as well as labor estimation of bridge lock and dam marine and other heavy/civil projects with values from $10K to $20M
  • Provide clear detailed quality takeoffs for material labor and equipment using company estimating standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for heavy industrial projects including labor materials and equipment.
  • Prepare and present cost reports and forecasts to project managers and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineering procurement and construction teams to gather necessary data for accurate cost planning.
  • Analyze project plans specifications and contracts to ensure comprehensive cost control.
  • Monitor project budgets identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support project bidding and negotiation processes by providing detailed cost analysis.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate financial risks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends best practices and cost management technologies
Qualifications:
  • Proficient with computer tools online reporting software and computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite) Epicor Manufacturing ERP software or equivalent and SharePoint.
  • Communicate clearly to deliver vital information to upperlevel management.
  • Attention to detail to ensure specifications are being met and quality of purchases is up to standard.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and labor costs along with a good knowledge of the uses and costs of materials.
  • Experience reading understanding interpreting complex engineering drawings and prints.
Education requirements or Equivalent:
  • Minimum high school education or equivalent machine shop or fabrication experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in structural steel fabrication machining takeoffs for civil or government construction projects.
  • Experience with heavy mechanical or civil fabrication or construction.
  • Experience with cost estimating software such as Blue Beam Costimator Fabtrol etc.
