Job Description

Overview

The Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) System Emergency Management Coordinator is focused on standardizing implementing revising and maintaining required emergency preparedness programs throughout NAH. This role develops and supports NAH emergency management improvement efforts such as developing and administering the program auditing to identify deficiencies training and coaching staff and facilitating change. This role will prepare maintain and evaluate policies and procedures drills and emergency preparedness events to meet or exceed required regulatory expectations. This role must be knowledgeable and proficient in emergency management principles and practices as well as Joint Commission emergency management standards.

Responsibilities

Emergency Management and Support
* Prepares maintains and evaluates safety and emergency management plans policies and education for NAH campuses and entities in Flagstaff Verde Valley and surrounding areas.

* Strong organization and project management skills. Able to facilitate accountability and educate coach and mentor staff.

* Coordinates develops and educates Hospital Incident Management Teams (HIMT) according to National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) principles.

* Assists the HIMTs in decisionmaking processes during emergency events drills and exercises.

* Effective decisionmaking and demonstrated creativity in problemsolving.

* Coordinates actions from different department/agencies including internal and external departments and agencies

* Builds and maintains working relationships with community agencies and organizations.

* Conducts onsite evaluations of NAH facilities as required (including frequent travel between sites).

* Participates in the emergency management program at NAH and acts as a resource to other departments and the community fielding questions mentoring or providing educational opportunities.

* Conducts audits and functional reviews of NAH sites and policies. Identifies opportunities and corrective actions when needed.

* Collaborates in the planning documentation and evaluation of emergency drills and exercises as required by accreditation and regulatory agencies.

* Works to standardize and maintain disaster preparedness plans processes and procedures for emergency services preparedness across NAH.

* Prepare maintain and evaluate policies and procedures drills and emergency preparedness events to meet or exceed regulatory requirements.

* Works in conjunction with the efforts of the Safety and Emergency Management Program Manager.



Compliance/Safety
* Participates in regulatory surveys (Accrediting Arizona Department of Health Services ADHS) and events related to the role as required.

* Responsible for reporting any safetyrelated incident in a timely fashion through the appropriate reporting mechanism; attends all safetyrelated training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

* If required for the position ensures all certifications and/or licenses are uptodate and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required jobspecific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED Required
Associates Degree in Emergency Management or related field Must be obtained within 24 months of hire


Certification & Licensures
Arizona Certified Emergency Medical Technician or Arizona Certified Emergency Paramedic Required
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ISand 800 or American College of Surgeons Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness course must be completed within 6 months from date of hire
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Awareness training must be completed within 18 months from date of hire


Experience
Minimum two years experience in emergency management or emergency department emergency services or relevant field experience Required
Demonstrated knowledge regarding standards and regulations including but not limited to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services The Joint Commission ADHS NIMS Required
Prior education in decontamination processes and procedures Preferred
Excellent computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word Excel and Power Point Required
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
