Independent Day School for JK Grade 8 (www.stlukeschool)

An independent coeducational Episcopal day school in the West Village (New York NY) St. Lukes School offers a balanced and challenging Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 curriculum that serves students of all faiths and spiritual practices. ABOUT THE JOB

St. Lukes School offers students opportunities for creativity exploration and enrichment through a vibrant and diverse After School Program. The ASP provides exceptional gifted and devoted staff in our general care enrichment and music programs.


Job Snapshot

FSLA Status: Parttime Exempt

Reports To: Assistant Head of Lower School

Start Date: September 5 2024

After School Program Staff Expectations

  • General care and enrichment classes between 2:00 6:00 p.m. on most days.
  • Enjoys interacting with kids between the ages of 412. Ability to work with children and remain friendly calm and patient.
  • Capacity to multitask and be flexible to the needs of the program.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a safe and fun learning environment for children.
  • Regular communication with parents and after school consultants.
  • Work with all parties to ensure students are in classes and lessons.
  • Opportunity to be a substitute teacher during the school day as well as evening event child care.

  • Excellent communication skills. Contact and communication with students faculty/staff and parents on a regular basis. Contact and communication consists of facetoface discussions email phone calls. Communicate effectively with the schools constituents.
  • Strong collaboration skills. Working collaboratively with other faculty and staff in a small closeknit creatively energetic environment.
  • An interest in and openness to professional growth and development. Desire and ability to embrace continuing education in the field. Participate and attend workshops conferences and other training.
  • A sense of joy and wonder and an optimistic attitude.
  • A sense of humor warmth of personality and energy.
  • Ability to be selfmotivated.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change. Ability to pivot as changes are made or needed in order to fit the schools current needs or adjustments to protocols. Be present at the school during the required work hours.
  • Participate in the life of the school including the Christmas Fair Spring Benefit and school games and events.
  • Enforce school policies and rules with students.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Working towards a degree or Bachelors Degree in Education (a plus)


WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 years experience working with kids
