Job Description
Minimum Education
Required: Completion of an Accredited Program for Respiratory Care
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
X Basic Life Support (BLS)
X Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (within the first six months of hire)
X VA Licensed Respiratory Therapist
For new graduates from an accredited school recent NICU clinical site reference preferred CRT or RRT credential from NBRC and licensed by the state within 12 months of employment.
Minimum Work Experience
Experience working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit/Intermediate Care Nursery preferred.

The Respiratory Therapist provides care to patients with breathingrelated conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. This job requires working both independently and part of the multidisciplinary team to treat and respond to the immediate needs of the patient.
- Provides services to patients of all age groups in accordance with physician orders department policies and procedures.
- Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
- Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes current research and best practices.
- Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
