The McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for multiple tenuretrack faculty positions in imaging science with an effective start date on or after July 1 2024. We seek both junior and senior applicants. Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a discipline important to imaging science such as biomedical or electrical engineering computer science optical science or another closely related discipline. Washington University is a highlyselective national research university with a strong tradition of research excellence. The Universitys strategic plan released in 2022 seeks growth of toptier research scholarship and creative practice with an emphasis on transdisciplinary and crossschool research. The University seeks to expand its leading diverse research and education efforts in imaging science. The Ph.D. in Imaging Science is administered within the McKelvey School of Engineering and is led by faculty from engineering and from the Washington University School of Medicine. Exceptional candidates will be considered in all areas of imaging science with a particular focus on the following areas:
(i) Theoretical imaging science including image and signal processing and learning.
(ii) Computer vision/imaging; algorithms and computations for imaging.
(iii) Innovative imaging science methods particularly with applications to biomedical engineering sustainable development or national security.
(iv) Emerging imaging modalities including quantum imaging.
Successful applicants will have a primary appointment in a department in the McKelvey School of Engineering and be affiliated with the imaging science program. The search process is led by faculty from the departments of Electrical and Systems Engineering Computer Science and Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. There are possibilities of joint appointments in other departments in the university consistent with the transdisciplinary nature of imaging science. The faculty member will be expected to teach courses in the Ph.D. in Imaging Science program as well as in their home department participate in university service and establish a thriving externallyfunded research program. Faculty positions are open for all levels; appointment at a senior rank (associate and full professor) will be considered for exceptional candidates with a distinguished record of achievement in research and teaching.
