Overview

The Acute Mental Health Provider provides acute mental health screening referral and case management services to children and adolescents within the Emergency Department.

This is a parttime PRN role which will work up to 8hours per week scheduled on Saturdays from 8:00am 5:30pm. This shift includes a great Shift Differential!

Location: Our campus in Overland Park Kansas.

Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve as well as the Childrens Mercy staff we want to let you know that the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found nonimmune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Rapid acute mental health screening referral and documentation Respond to the Emergency Department within prescribed time frame and complete acute mental health screening of patients who have been identified to be at risk of harm to themselves or others. Upon completion of screening complete appropriate referrals which may include inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or outpatient mental health services and complete all associated documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration with Service Providers. Maintain ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strong partnerships with mental health service providers.
  • Professional Development. Demonstrate active involvement and leadership within the team department and hospital by regular attendance at meetings and educational opportunities serving as a consultant for other members of the department and hospital participation on committees and responding to hospital and/or community requests for educational programs.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree Social Work or Counseling and 35 years experience. 1 year experience acceptable if incumbent holds a clinical license.
  • One of the following: LMSW/Licensed Masters Social Worker KS LCSW/Licensed Clinical Social Worker KS KS LPC/Licensed Professional Counselor required upon hire.
  • One of the following: LMSW/Licensed Masters Social Worker MO Licensed Clinical Social Worker Specialist MO MO Licensed Professional Counselor MO Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor required within 90 days.
  • Incumbent must be dually licensed in both KS and MO within 90 days of hire.
