Position
Come teach for Renton Technical Colleges awardwinning Culinary Arts program! We are looking for a FullTime Culinary Arts Instructorinterested in teaching our diverse students in both the classroom and the lab (kitchen) along with other professional duties. This position will be responsible for instruction and curriculum development student support and mentorship faculty and governance engagement maintaining office hours and other related activities.
This position is represented by the Renton Federation of Teachers (RFT) Employees Association. This is a fulltime tenure trackteaching position. Teaching assignments may include online or hybrid courses.This position is scheduled to begin Fall quarter 2025.The salary range for this position is $91750 $109578. New FullTime Faculty are placed at step one of the salary range.For more information please see theRFT Contract.The priority consideration date for this position is April 6th 2025.

Career Education and apprenticeships degrees round out our offerings.Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
- Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity diversity and inclusion.
- Effectively teach the adopted curriculum at a variety of skill levels and evaluate student progress towards learning objectives for the culinary arts program.
- Create programlearning activities that supports individual student learning needs and the appropriate evaluation of student progress towards the learning objectives.
- Provide structured handson instruction in culinary arts ensuring students actively perform all aspects of production planning and service. Ensure students partake in menu planning and daily production and plating and the kitchen workflow.
- Ensuring all recipes used in instruction and food service operations are standardized costed and reveiwed for alignment with instructional and budgetary goals.
- Advise students on academic and career pathways actively mentoring them in job placement and industry networking with varied backgrounds and career goals.
- Develop and update curriculum as required by the College to respond to industry trends and to improve equitable student outcomes.
- Maintain structured office hours.
- Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning outcomes including thoughtfully designed individual assignments projects quizzes and standardized tests.
- Maintain and submit student records documentation and program reports.
- Design inclusive instructional strategies including classroom small groups and individualized instruction to reach all students and select and evaluate the materials needed to implement these strategies.
- Actively participate in industry advisory board meetings and community partnerships to strengthen program alignment and student job placement.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership or participation in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation racial ethnic religious linguistic gender age socioeconomic physical and learning abilities and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
- Five years of management experience in the culinary industry. Teaching experience and current knowledge in all phases of culinary arts preferred.
- Ability to design learning experiences that are interactive and respectful of cultural differences.
- Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners as well as with individuals whose first language is not English.
- Obtain and maintain a Washington State Food Handlers Permit and ServSafe Instructor/Proctor certification within 90 days of hire.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Have or acquire within 90 days of initial employment a current healthcare provider CPR First Aid and Blood borne Pathogen Certificates.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Experience and/or willingness to incorporate technology in the classroom.
- Experience writing program curriculum and an interest in innovative strategies and delivery.
- Ability to proctor National Restaurant Association ServeSafe certifications.
- Associate degree in business hospitality or other appropriate discipline preferred.
- Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records managing multiple tasks and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner while using tact discretion and courtesy.
- Speaker of a language in addition to English is preferred preference for top spoken languages in the RTC service area (Spanish Vietnamese Russian Somali Chinese).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is active in nature and requires standing lecturing and demonstration of processes in a lab environment. The job also requires some sedentary time when performing administrative program functions. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments required.

Degree Stipend:
Masters or Doctorate degree stipends are paid annually.- Masters $967
