Job Description

Job Summary:

The Quality Technician is accountable for protecting our customers by driving defect prevention actions and by ensuring that only good quality materials are accepted into and released from the plant. This is accomplished by conducting comprehensive testing inspection and proper handling of material samples along with performing audits of quality processes to ensure adherence to quality standards. By maintaining highquality standards communicating issues and taking appropriate actions to resolve them they help to drive customer satisfaction and continuously improve product quality. The role also includes identifying areas for process improvements participating in corrective actions when necessary and working closely with other departments to maintain a smooth and efficient production flow.

Shift: C shift; Wednesday Thursday Friday every other Saturday from 6:30am to 7:00pm

Wage: DOE $19.00 to $26.68

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Knowledge

The individual in this role must have a thorough understanding of quality control including:

  • Measurement and test equipment use and calibrations including hand tools gauges optical tools balances color meters and force measuring instruments.
  • Measurement system analysis.
  • Data entry plotting and analysis methods.
  • Quality management system compliance.
  • Cost of poor quality.
  • Root cause analysis.
  • Process improvement and problem solving approaches.
  • Area management and housekeeping best practices.
  • Risk assessment reasoning.
  • Nonconforming materials and rework handling.
  • Sampling plans and proper sample preparation.
  • Inspection techniques and processes.
  • Auditing.
  • Control plans.

 

Core Skills

The individual in this role must demonstrate mastery in the following areas:

    • Writing Skills: English. Write clear simple sentences complete technical forms and apply basic math concepts like estimation and spatial reasoning.
    • Reading Skills: English. Interpret manuals safety instructions reports and understand images graphs and coding systems in the work area.
    • Oral Skills: Communicate effectively in English respond to questions and collaborate with supervisors and team members to support plant improvements.
    • Motivation: Take responsibility for assignments improve skills and set personal goals with actionable strategies.
    • Integrity: Be honest with company property and time communicate respectfully and resolve conflicts constructively.
    • Reliability: Maintain punctuality stay composed in stressful situations and work effectively in a structured environment.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

Required

  • Ability to work 12hour shifts in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime holidays and weekends as scheduled in the 24/7 operation.
  • Proficiency with using a computer.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Strong crossfunctional communication skills.
  • Prior forklift operation experience.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Quality Technician certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma 8D training and/or certification.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills for career advancement including the ability to interpret safety rules operating instructions maintenance manuals and procedural documents.
  • Previous 2 years forklift operation experience.
  • Previous manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements outlined below represent those necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

  • Lift push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk around for a 12hour shift.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending squatting and kneeling.
  • Frequently get into and out of a forklift or other heavy equipment. 
  • Eye hand coordination required to operate forklifts and handcarts.
  • Wear and operate required safety equipment including earplugs and safety glasses.
  • Read printed reports and data displayed on computer screens.
  • Fine motor skills to operate tools including chop saws and test equipment.

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety eyewear steeltoed boots and hearing protection is mandatory in designated areas. While performing the duties of this Job the employee is often exposed to hot and wet and/or humid conditions; occasionally moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
