Description

As a member of the R&D Metrology team the Metrology Engineer develops calibration procedures performs measurement uncertainty analysis and contributes to developing measurement techniques in collaboration with NPD and Service Center technical teams. Additionally they act as a technical representative for the R&D Metrology Lab which calibrates R&D MFG and Service Centers equipment. Come join our team!

As a Metrology Engineer you will focus on the science of measurement. Your main tasks will include developing detailed measurement uncertainty budgets in accordance with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). You will also write and maintain calibration procedures making sure they are current and meet industry standards.

In this Role Your Responsibilities Will:

  • Provide metrology and calibration engineering services on a wide range of electronic test equipment by designing and validating measurement methods of simple to medium complexity.
  • Write and maintain calibration procedures according to established practices and templates.
  • Develop measurement uncertainty budgets for ongoing NPD projects and legacy calibration procedures at Service Centers.
  • Document measurement processes calibration procedures methodologies and results in a clear and organized manner as per established processes.
  • Maintain and continuously develop personal knowledge and expertise related to the service of complex laboratory equipment.

For This Role You Will Need:
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering without handson experience or:
  • Associate degree (or 2year tech degree) and 5 years experience in DC/LF/RF measurements in lieu of Bachelor degree
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Preferable degree concentration in Electrical Engineering Electrical/Electronic Technology Mathematics Physics or other related sciences.
  • Effective communication collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of electronics engineering and metrology principles theories and concepts in accordance with national and international measurement standards and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment datasheets and specifications.
  • Familiarity with the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM).
  • Software experience is a plus especially LabVIEW in support of instrument automation.
  • Metrology knowledge gained through education experience or military programs like PMEL (US Air Force) TMDE (US Army) and NCL (US Navy)
