The purpose of the Operating Room Assistant is to perform service functions that support the delivery of patient care in the Operating Room. These functions include but are not limited to: patient transportation maintenance and cleaning of equipment and operating rooms stocking supplies and running errands. Additionally OR Assistants perform a surgical scrub and hold retractors during certain procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Transports patients to the Operating Room.
2. Performs room turnovers.
3. Prepares equipment for each procedure.
4. Assists the nurse and physician with patient positioning & lifting.
5. Delivers specimens to the lab runs errands to pharmacy medical records ASU patient units etc.
6. Orders Xrays and nourishments daily.
7. Maintains clean and unobstructed hallways & scrub rooms.
8. Operates operating room based sterilization equipment (i.e. steris autoclaves).
9. Stocks all nonspecialty areas including prep carts scrub rooms warmers linen carts holding area turnover supplies PPE storage etc.
10. Performs a surgical hand scrub maintains a sterile field & holds retractors on selected surgical procedures.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:
Required: Read and speak conversational English.
