Job Description
We are looking for creative team members who love to develop software. We want to work with people that make learning and teaching others a fundamental part of every day. Emerson is looking for a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2025 to join our Marshalltown IA team. We are looking for someone who is interested in gaining realworld experience in a dynamic collaborative environment.
You will be a member of a software development team dedicated to solving customer problems through technology. Participate in all facets of the software development lifecycle including requirements gathering design development and testing and participate in fullstack development of enterprisegrade web applications including everything from responsive frontend development all the way down to database design unit testing and DevOps.
While engineers here are exposed to many different aspects of development each individual is given opportunities to grow in areas that interest them most. For some it is UX design and frontend development and others it might be API design and backend development. Senior engineers are here to mentor along the way but even interns can take the lead in introducing new technology to the team! Learning together is a big part of what enables us to deliver the best solutions for our customers while also growing our teams capabilities.
We are looking to hire a Software Engineering Intern who can participate in all facets of projects from requirements gathering design development unit testing and DevOps.
In this Role Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Develops and unit tests development tasks sometimes via pair programming
- Participates in requirements gathering and breakdown sessions with the customer and the development team
- Assists with functional testing and other tasks as needed
- Learn and grow into a professional and productive team member
- You balance planning with actions. You solicit both input and discussion. You focus on priorities and set stretch goals
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering Software Development Computer Science or related field
- At least one objectoriented programming course completed prior to intern
- Legal authorization to work in the United States Sponsorship will not be provided for this role
- Experience with Java .NET iOS Android or other highlevel programming
- Relational database/SQL knowledge
- HTML/CSS
- JavaScript
- Sophomore or higher class status
