Job summary The Senior Lead Editorial on the Member Editorial Communications team is responsible for contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of the editorial content strategy on memberfacing channels including email newsletter website and mobile app. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders providing channel expertise story guidance and copy editing to ensure bestinclass membercentric communications that align with OMAs strategic priorities.
How you will make a difference
Delivering proactive editorial ideas planning development and timely delivery of impactful communications including:
Writing and copy editing for digital and print video scripts storyboarding and other storytelling approaches that resonate with a member audience.
Managing the daytoday planning and of the member editorial calendar
Supporting the immediate team with content and process development
Providing editorial expertise to internal stakeholders in their development of member editorial communications across OMA channels. Duties include:
Liaising with internal stakeholders on channel communications opportunities (including strategy placement brand style and tone member experience and design production guidance) while also ensuring the timely publication of channel communications
Acting as the main point of contact on projects in directors absence
Editing editorial submissions to ensure consistency following best practices for brand style/tone CP style accessibility and SEO.
Leveraging data insights to inform editorial strategy and communications development
Contributing to the effective functioning of the Member Editorial Communications team by:
Acting as the goto contact for daytoday operational/core requests from stakeholders (including questions about the editorial calendar new story requests and production updates)
Working within department processes for managing editorial communications requests development and delivery
Building and maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders
Contributing ideas and feedback to the team to continuously evolve and improve editorial guidelines and processes
Supporting the director in designing standards systems and best practices for the immediate team OMA business partners and freelancers
Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with roster of vendors to ensure timely of creative projects
Requirements that are important to us
University degree or college diploma in Journalism Communications Public Relations Digital Media or equivalent
Four to five 4 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in communications planning and development including news and feature writing interview and research skills and multimedia storytelling.
Ability to formulate story ideas and create impactful multimedia content that can be showcased on various platforms including print longform articles breaking news web copy podcasts and videos.
Experience in pitching sources and securing impactful interviews
Superior skills in script writing concept development source outreach interviewing editing research and organization skills to manage process endtoend
Familiarity with government and healthcare sector is an asset.
The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
