Weare committed to have the worlds most skilled people working with usandarecurrentlylooking for aData Protection Specialist &InformationManagertoleadtransparency andrightfulaccess to informationinFSCand to protect FSCs business and personal data.You will be a member of the Legal Departmentof the FSC Grouptolead andfacilitatethe implementation of the newly adoptedFSCMembership Access to Information and Transparency Policy.In this regard youchampion an internal culture of openness and transparency but also of awareness about clear confidentiality imperatives for certain types of information.
Moreoveryour roleis to ensure compliancewithdata protection regulationssuch as GDPR data privacyand IT laws in the daily business affairs of FSC. You will besupportingthe development ofnewpolicies andenhancingexistingguidelinesand training staff members. In this regardyou will also act as the trusted advisor for our domestic and foreign subsidiaries toprovideriskbased advice on individual cases and develop suitable solutionsin close cooperation with other legal team members.
In your function asData Protection Specialist &InformationManageryou will be reporting to the FSC Group Head of Legal Department and havinga uniquecentral rolewithimpactinaninternational and culturally diverseorganizationwith a truly global brand. You willwork closely with FSCs Director General and the FSC Board of Directors andhelp maximizingthe power ofone of the largest membershipgovernancebodiesin the world and make aprofoundcontribution to consensusbuildingas well asaccountableandsustainable decisionsfor the planet.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
As the guardian ofFSCs newPolicy your role is tolead the implementationand the maintenanceof theMembership Access to Information and TransparencyPolicyandensurecompliance therewith. This includes in particular:
- Applying the Policy:
- Fleshing out all prerequisites to a successful introduction and implementation of the Policy.
- Developing training materials andrunningtraining sessions forstaffmanagementand Board members.
- Runninga preliminary assessment of documentsandinformation most likely to be the object of requestsand predeterminewhereexceptions to disclosure apply.
- EnsuringPolicycompliance and where necessary updatingprovisions inFSC contract templatesrelating to confidentiality and disclosure.
- Asserting thatnecessaryinformation is onlineas required by the Policyandalwaysuptodate.
- Receiving and answeringformal requests for information:
- Managing the request evaluation process including engagement with therespective colleaguebeing thecustodian to the requested document.
- Advisingtop leadership on the classification of Board sessions and Board documents.
- Ensuring that the exception framework has been duly considered.
- Asserting thatresponsetimeframesare kept by tracking substitution routines for relevant staff.
- Facilitating all processes required by thePolicy including first and second level of appeal.
- Maintaining acomprehensiverequest log.
- Developing andmaintainingPolicy Implementation Guidelines which document what type ofpapersor information fall under exceptionof disclosureand where limits to exceptions.
- Monitoring proactive disclosure of information as committed in the Policy.
- Compiling regular accountability reports about the implementation of the Policy.
- Running anannual Policy review and recommending Policyupdatesto the Board of Directors.
- Respondingto requests for advice from members of staffmanagementor the Boarditself on questions of information disclosure supported by an explicit analysis thatstarts withlegalconsiderations.
Asa member of the Legal Department you assumeresponsibility overcriticallegaltaskssuch as:
- Supportingthe review and optimization of data protection anddataprocessingwith its underlyingprocessesin order tocontinuously develop our internal data protection management system.
- Helping to shape regulations and guidelines working on companywide policies and guidelines ensuringlegalcomplianceand having a lastingimpactover the maintenance qualification andupdateover databasescontainingpersonal and business data.
- Providingregularupdates to the legal team and clients on relevant changes in law.
- Be thecocontact person for colleagues andotherdepartmentsat FSCon all legal queries around datawith a focus on the development of practical and solutionoriented approaches.
- Processingofdata protectionand data privacyrequests fromclientsand stakeholdernext to theapplication and maintenance of the Policy explained above.
- You will conduct privacy assessments and data protection impact assessments.
- Supporting the processing and handling of IT law related cases.
Your profile
- University degree in law. Alternatively university degree in businessadministrationor similar with proven track experience in handling legal queries in data protection data privacy and IT lawrelated queries.
- At minimum three 3but ideallymoreyears of professional experience workinginthe legaland/orcompliancedepartment ofanideallyinternationalorganizationor law firm.
- Working experience in FSC or other certification systems is an advantage.
- DataProtection Officer certificationor proven track of other related advanced trainingsisverydesirable.
- Fluency in Englishand German(spoken and written).
- Spanish and/or French isa bigadvantage.
- Serviceoriented attitude to work focusing on solvingtaskswitha strong sensefor diligence and accuracy.
- Strongverbal and written communication skillsable toestablishand maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
- Proficient withthe useofthestandard software packages (MSWord ExcelPowerPoint.
- ExperienceinMS Office 365in particular SharePointand Dynamics DocuSignand SAPisa big plus.
- High levelof integrityan ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Team player but with thecapacityto withstandpotential external or internalpressures.

The Fine Print
- Location: BonnGermany FSCInternationalheadquarter.
- Working Hours: Fulltime 40 hoursper week 2 days per week in the office
