Early Childhood Ministry Teachers Aide
Job Description
Purpose
A Teachers Aide for St. Johns Early Childhood Ministry (ECM) supports the daytoday ministry of the ECM and reports
to the Early Childhood Director.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist the ECM in providing a safe nurturing Christcentered environment to support children in their spiritual
physical emotional and intellectual development.
Curriculum & Instruction
- Assist the lead teacher in preparing materials and supporting student learning in lessons.
- Assist in carrying out classroom discipline and management plans.
- Supervise children in learning activities and during free time supporting and redirecting children as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and sanitation of classroom areas throughout the day.
Staff & Parent Relationships
- Build and maintain open communication and positive relationships with the parents.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with children.
- Assist in communicating with families about daily activities updates reports or other news that directly
involves their child. - Fill out Incident and Accident Reports as needed in a timely manner.
- Comply with St. Johns School and Early Childhood Ministry policies and standard procedures.
Other Duties
- Assist in Extended Care staffing as needed.
- Assist in the preparation and staffing of Summer Camp.
- Attend staff meetings as they arise.
Qualifications
- Consistent and regular use of the means of grace in public worship public bible study and private use of Gods
word. - Serve as an example for fellow believers in living a Christian life.
- Demonstrates a genuine love for children respects children as individuals.
- Certified in First Aid and CPR.
- Agreement and alignment with the mission statements of St. Johns Lutheran Church & School.
- Highly Preferred: A member in good standing of St. Johns Lutheran Church or a sister WELS congregation.
Supervision
- A Teachers Aide in the ECM reports to their assigned lead teacher the Early Childhood Director and School Principal.
