Job Description
Sylvan Learning Center Parttime Teacher Position
Sylvan Learning Center is looking for fun dedicated tutors to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for tutors who are able to teach Elementary Middle School and High School.
Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with groups of only three students you will be responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There is no lesson plan to create no homework to grade no parentconferencing and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching without any of the downsides!
What you should know:
- If you enjoy working with and inspiring students this is the job for you. (We want you to be happy here!
- You will use preplanned lessons. They are straightforward easy to manage and fun to teach
- Tutor students in a small group setting. Teach small groups of 34 students per tutor.
- Most tutors choose to work 25 days/week
- This is NOT a remote position
Job Requirements:
- Teaching credentials preferred or four year degree in reading math or related field required
- Spanish language bonus
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers printers and office phones
- Knowledge of tablet computers preferred

**Bonus Opportunity: Explore the role of a Travel Tutor position with additional incentives. Travel Tutors should possess reliable transportation (carpool options may be available) and a willingness to conduct oncampus instruction at local schools maintaining a maximum studenttoteacher ratio of 8:1.
Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers:
- Four year degree or equivalent required
- State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired)
- Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers
Math Program Teachers:
- Four year degree required in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college level math
SAT/ACT Test Prep and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers:
- Four year degree or equivalent preferred
Skills and Abilities Required
