We currently have an opening for a Director of Business Development. This position designs leads and implements the strategic business capture plan for the Domestic U.S. Army DOD business initiatives under Thales Defense and Security Inc. (TDSI). The position reports to the Vice President of the Communications Systems business line out of Clarksburg MD. This role can be based out of either Aberdeen MD or Clarksburg MD. Travel to customer and operator sites affiliate Thales offices and conferences is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the performance of the assigned Army/DOD customer accounts with a primary focus on Aberdeen Proving Ground PEO C3N PEO IEWS and CECOM.
  • Play a key role in developing and implementing the TDSI Army portfolio in support of the companys business development strategy & aligning it with overall business objectives.
  • Be the primary interface with US Army DOD program offices and/or Military Operations leadership to understand shape and influence future requirements.
  • Develop qualify and lead capture and pursuits of large government tactical communications programs $50M).
  • Proactively interface with customers and partners to identify qualify and capture new business opportunities.
  • Identify evaluate and pursue industry and USG agency partnerships in developing new business.
  • Lead market analysis monitor competitive intelligence and identify customer needs within their respective business area.
  • Generate capture plans in support of the business strategic growth plan over a multiyear period.
  • Proved updates reviews and the opportunity forecast for their respective business areas on a regular basis.
  • Lead in the preparation of internal pursuit reviews and external proposals to include competitive assessments customer hot buttons and win themes pricetowin strategies etc.
  • Oversee Tradeshows/customer visit coordination and .
  • Lead multidiscipline teams in the pursuit of new business opportunities.
  • Effect market penetration and growth with minimal supervision.
  • By example set the standards that embody the TDSI Core Value & Thales Leadership Model.
  • Maintain a high ethical standard of practice including compliance with all company policies procedures practices and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering business or equivalent field.
  • 1215 years experience within sales and marketing or Business Development in related field with 10 focused on the Armys efforts in C4ISR Networks to include Network communications Electronic Warfare and Command/Control systems.
  • The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the defense industry in general and the US Army procurement industry specifically including regulations procurement processes and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with MANET networks radio waveform technology/market trends desired.
  • The candidate will have experience working with Army executive agencies including PEOC3N and PEOIEWS.
  • Experience with HQDA and Active Army units is a plus.
  • Desirable that the successful candidate will have military tactical operational experience.
  • Additional knowledge of US Army SOCOM market spaces within Intelligence programs desired.
  • Experience in developing business cases forecast market trends and understand the financial implications of business development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading in a team environment while interacting crossfunctionally with employees of all levels.
  • Ability to foster team work across different functional areas and with other Thales entities.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and work ethic and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and sales tracking systems required.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50 of the time.

The annualized pay range for this role is $168986$215927 USD along with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of 20. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
