POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Preschool Director (Recreation Supervisor) and Preschool Teacher / Camp Director incumbent implements the Fair Oaks Preschool program and activities for ages 3 to 5 years; provides direct supervision to children in the classroom and on the playground while actively working towards maintaining positive student relations while following established behavior management procedures; supervises classroom parents and is responsible for communicating with parents and FORPD staff. Additionally under the direction of the Camp Director & Recreation Supervisor supervises assigned camp participants and aids with the planning organizing implementing leading and monitoring of Summer Camp activities. Implements the Camp Fair Oaks program and activities for ages 615 (including Counselors in Training); provides direct supervision to children in the camp setting including but not limited to onsite activities offsite field trips and other program locations while actively working towards maintaining positive camper and staff relations and experiences while following established behavior management procedures. Ensures a safe fun and educational environment for camp participants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under general direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Preschool Teacher/Camp Director:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises parents in the classroom. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training parents planning assigning and directing work addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED and must possess or be in the process of obtaining twelve 12 Early Child Education Recreation Elementary Education Units or related field. Candidate must have a minimum of six 6 months of experience in working with children ages 35 in the classroom.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneonone and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid California class C drivers license proof of personal vehicle insurance and a satisfactory driving record are required. American Red Cross certification (varies by program First Aid and CPR certifications required). At the option of the appointing authority persons hired into this class may be required to either possess at entry or obtain within specified time limits designated licenses certifications or specialized education and training relevant to the area of assignment.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Adobe Acrobat the Microsoft Office Suite of products and possess typing skills of at least 4050 wpm. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email copy and fax machines postage meter telephone and answering machine.

SELECTION PROCEDURES:
Initial Selection Review:
The Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District reviews all initial application materials to identify qualified applicants. Applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be invited to the first phase of the recruitment process. FORPD reserves the right to refer only the better qualified applicants if the number of applicants is high. If the number of applicants is high the review process may include a secondary screening (by a panel of job knowledge experts) of the applications and/or supplemental questionnaires in which the better qualified applicants are referred to the next phase of the recruitment process.
