POSITION TITLE: Inpatient Addiction Medicine Provider NonExempt Position

RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Director and Program Director

MAJOR DUTIES: Lifeline Connections is an integrated care center providing behavioral health addiction treatment and basic medical care services. We are looking for motivated providers to work as part of our team to provide comprehensive and important care to our population of patients. This position works with and under the supervision of the Medical Director and Program Director. Responsibilities include gathering a history and physical of each newly admitted patient to withdrawal management prescribing and managing medications while in the inpatient setting and rounding on residential patients in our mens and womens program. In addition the provider will be working part time in our integrated program providing medication assisted recovery and medication services and occasional medical services if needed. This person will also assist the medical director in maintaining and updating inpatient protocols procedures and policies as needed.

Responsibilities include:

1. Obtain history and physicals of patients coming into withdrawal management and formulating appropriate medical management plan and follow up.

2. Review patients charts and maintain uptodate record of allergies medical problems mental health history SUD history and medications.

3. Request and review prior medical history and management as is relevant to ongoing care.

4. Engage in a collegial consultative relationship with other medical and mental health providers nurses case managers residential treatment center staff and outpatient treatment center staff.

5. Work as a team member in a medical home model with other behavioral health and medical staff.

6. Provide consultation if requested by other programs in the agency or by the agency.

7. Order and interpret point of care and blood tests for STDs including hep C HIV syphilis and gonorrhea/chlamydia (with assistance from the medical team) and any other tests that are appropriate.

8. Prescribe medical treatment and medications for mental health and addiction in accordance with training.

9. Identify and appropriately refer patients to higher level of care in a timely manner.

10. Participate in coordination of care with other providers in the agency and with outside agencies

11. Review medical histories and make referrals to other agencies and providers as appropriate.

12. Maintain commitment to providing culturally sensitive care.

13. Engage in ongoing education and specialized training to maintain a high quality of care to the clinics patient population.

14. Attend staff/provider meetings.

15. Document patient care legibly and appropriately within medical standards of care using the EHR.

16. Notify Human Resources regarding any changes in state licensure DEA licensure board certification Medicare provider status; send updated copies of licenses to human resources.

17. Participate in periodic peer review of patient charts.

18. Supervise and train new incoming providers if needed in collaboration with the medical director.

19. Provide and mentor training providers including residents medical students and fellows when needed.

20. Provide on call support

21. Perform other duties as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Washington State Department of Health ARNP MD NP or PA License required;

2. CPR card;

3. Possess a current DEA credential with X waiver;

4. Experience working with patients who have complicated behavioral health and addiction issues preferred;

5. Experience providing MAT services preferred

6. Preferably Addiction Board Certified (if MD)

7. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality;

8. Good verbal and written communication skills;

9. Great attendance; and

10. Ability to work well with others


GUIDELINES:

The position performs duties in accordance with Washington Administrative Codes Federal regulations governing confidentiality CARF standards and all of Lifeline Connections Policies and Procedures. The position requires that the incumbent maintain certification or qualification standards and maintains licensure with the Department of Health.


COMPLEXITY

The incumbent provides medical and diagnostic services to patients who differ widely in age and socioeconomic status and who may possess a variety of chronic and serious social behavioral psychological and medical problems. Strong clinical skills sound judgment and creativity are required to help implement and deliver treatment services that will meet the complex needs of the patients.


PERSONAL CONTACT:

Contacts are with members of the treatment team patients significant others of the patients representatives of various community agencies specializing in the treatment of substance abuse psychiatric disorders cooccurring disorders and related community representatives. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state statues laws and regulations dealing with the confidentiality of alcohol and drug dependent patient records.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the essential functions of the job the employee is regularly required to sit speak clearly hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk reach with hands or arms stoop kneel crouch or lift and/or move maximum of 15 lbs.


WORKING ENVIRONMENTS:

Working hours are spent indoors in offices or meeting rooms. Occasional supervision of outdoor activities visits to community agencies and participation in staff retreats and staff development activities may be required.

Salary: $90000 $120000
