Microbiology & Immunology has an exciting opportunity for a Post Doctoral Associate position. The incumbent performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
2. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
3. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
4. Maintains substantial knowledge of stateoftheart principles and theories.
5. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
6. Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. required.
Prior experience is preferred but not required.
Department Specific Functions
Two PostDoctoral positions are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Noula Shembade Department of Microbiology and Immunology University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The research will focus on the interplay between KSHV and HIV in the development of HIV/AIDSrelated Kaposis sarcoma. This study involves working with cell / tissue culture EcoHIV and immunodeficient and immunocompetent animals. The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent degree with a strong background in molecular/cellular biology virology innate immunity signal transduction and cancer animal models. Excellent oral and written communication skills the ability to work independently and experience working with knockout mice /SCID mice or PDX mice and viral infection models is preferred.
