What You Will Do:
A Vice President of Engineering for Building Automation System (BAS) and Controls oversees an engineering department of 500 engineers and is responsible for driving product development innovation and operational excellence.
The incumbent provides technical leadership vision and strategic direction for the engineering department. This role is critical in driving the organizations technical objectives and ensuring that all engineering projects align with company goals timelines and quality standards. The BAS and Controls VP of Engineering is responsible for overseeing teams of engineers managing engineering budgets and fostering innovation in product design and development.
How You Will Do It:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the engineering department ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Lead mentor and develop a highperforming engineering team fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Collaborate closely with senior management product management and other departments to define engineering priorities roadmaps and objectives.
New Product Introduction NPI) & Delivery:
- Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept and design to testing and delivery.
- Ensure timely delivery of highquality products that meet customer and market needs.
- Implement best practices in engineering methodologies including Agile Lean or other relevant frameworks.
Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical guidance and support to teams on key engineering projects and challenges.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and drive innovation in product development and engineering processes.
- Ensure the scalability reliability and performance of products platforms and infrastructure.
Operational Excellence:
- Set and monitor engineering metrics (KPIs) to measure performance identify bottlenecks and optimize processes.
- Oversee the engineering budget ensuring costeffective use of resources and tools.
- Manage external engineering partners vendors and contractors as needed.
Collaboration:
- Work with product management marketing and sales teams to ensure alignment between engineering and market needs and Foster crossfunctional collaboration to achieve seamless integration of engineering outputs into the business.
What We Look For:
Education:
- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering Computer Science Mechanical or a related field.
- Advanced degrees (MBA MS or PhD) are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1015 years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing large engineering teams and driving successful product launches.
- Experience with Agile or similar development methodologies.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles processes and tools.
- Handson experience with modern software development and engineering technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud computing infrastructure DevOps and security practices.
Leadership & Management:
- Exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with strong decisionmaking and problemsolving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a fastpaced startup or largescale enterprise environment.
- Experience with managing geographically distributed teams.
- Knowledge of industryspecific regulations and compliance.
