Job Description

Job Summary:A Call When Needed Engine Captain I (Engine Boss) atChloetawillparticipatein wildfire prevention and mitigation work for structure protection. This role will be focusedmainly onproperty insurance protection and not on suppression activities. Engine Captains also lead their crews in physical training basic engine maintenance wildfire staging homeowner assessments data collection and prescribed burn assignments.

The duration of the season isdeterminedby fire severity. Based on field availability Call When Needed Engine Captainsmay be requested to take varying assignment lengths ranging from 7 to21 dayson an asneeded monthtomonth basis.

Duty Station:Call When NeededEngine Captains deploy from home of record.

Travel: Up to 90100 travel in the United States is involved with the position.

Compensation:

This pay band reflects Chloetas good faith estimate of the range it expects to offer; Chloeta reserves the right to alter this range if business circumstances change.

  • $26.00 $27.00 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct operationsin accordance withthe guidelinesstatedin the IRPG incidentspecificobjectives and agencyspecific guidance.

  • Perform Industry standard Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) structure protection tasks in support of local areas havingjurisdictionand State Protection missions.

  • Conduct daily data collection on threatened policies and accurately enter the information into company databases.

  • Receive and execute daily work assignments from Battalion Chiefs and/or higher authority.

  • Remain skilled in and properly apply modern fire suppression and prevention tactics methods and procedures.

  • Lead the engine crew to safely and efficiently complete assigned tasks.

  • Ensure punctuality for crew on all assignments.

  • Ensureaccuratedaily time documentation for self and crew.

  • Maintain companyissued equipment to uphold and present a professional image of the company.

  • Lead effectively in high stress environments.

  • Manage daily data collection on threatened policies and accurately input information into company databases.

  • Serve as an example to ensure crew safety and welfare adhering to all relevant safety and legal regulations and policies.

  • Utilize andmaintainall apparatus tools and equipment promptly and correctly for property protection.

  • Assistin the implementation and delivery of ongoing training programs conduct remedial training and assess crew members toidentifyadditionaltraining opportunities.

  • Maintain a positive working environment and strive to exceed the company and clients needs.

  • Perform maintenance and testing of assigned engines tools and equipment ensuring theyremainin good working and safe condition and report deficiencies.

  • Must be proficient inutilizingtechnology such as computers and tablets/iPads.

  • Serve as a positive examplerepresentingboth the company andselfwith the highest standards in all interactions.

  • Oversee routine administrative tasks for yourself and your crew including time entry expense reporting hours of service and compliance.

  • Demonstrateproficiencyin pumping drafting and water shuttle operations.

  • Maintainexpertiseand knowledge in current fire suppression tactics methods and procedures.

  • Operate company vehicles and equipment safely and in strict adherence to both legal regulations and company policies.

  • Ensure adherence toestablishedcompany procedures when responding to incidents.

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Must have a current/valid State Issued Driver License (DL) in order to operate vehicle and a minimum of 3 years driving history

  • A current/valid real ID Drivers license or active passport is needed to travel to certain assignment via airplane

  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with DOT and company standards and pass insurance required record check throughout the duration of employment.

  • Must be 21 years of age.

  • A current national DOT Medical Examiners Certification verified by the FMCSA.

Education and Experience:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Required: Satisfactory performance as a Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1

  • Preferred: Experience supervising a Wildland/Type 6 Engine

  • License verification education and certifications must be provided at the time of application and canalsobe emailed to certification@ chloeta

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/ Pack Test) at Arduous Level (Complete a 3mile walk wearing a 45pound pack in less than 45 minutes)

  • Must be able to lift pull or push up to 60lbs

  • Must maintain a current national DOT Medical Examiners Certification verified by the FMCSA throughout the duration of employment.

  • Must maintain a prominent level of physical fitness

  • May be asked to work nights weekends and holidays within short notice.

  • This role requires quick turn around responses and employees must reside within the US and live within 23 hours of an airport.
