Job Description

Summary

At HiWay Paving we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving storm drainage and excavation on highways and airfields.


Our Portable Concrete Plant Operators are responsible for operating and managing batch plant equipment that mixes/blends materials including concrete cement and aggregate. Individuals in this role will efficiently produce superior plantmixed products to be used onsite to build and maintain airfields and highways.

This role requires extensive travel (and stays) in locations where projects are active (Nashville TN Charlotte NC Columbia SC and future project cities TBD). If you are a road warrior that loves hard work and long hours this is the job for you.


Responsibilities

  • Setup operate and take down plant as assigned.
  • Verify proper input of mix design components for proper mixing of products on a daily basis.
  • Operates primary machinery and additional equipment for production such as pumps and conveyor belts and unloads materials.
  • May oil grease service and make normal maintenance adjustments on equipment
  • Maintain and service equipment assigned to plant operation.
  • Monitor material inventories and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Report daily production quantities material usage equipment usage and fuel consumption.
  • Maintain/provide records for plant permit requirements/assure compliance.
  • Maintain plant area in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with owners representative/inspector.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Regular communication with the quality control department.
  • Monitor and help enforce safety rules and practices from all governing authorities and sitespecific plans.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in readymix operations concrete operations and/or construction industry required.
  • Experience leading or contributing to a concrete paving crew at airfields/airports preferred.
  • NRMCA and or ACI certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and or requirements.
  • Enhanced training or certifications in safety and/or OSHA regulations preferred.
  • High degree of focus and attention to detail.
  • Capable of multitasking in a fastpaced environment.
  • Must be able to travel overnight to job sites up to 100 of the time.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Ability to gain clearance in restricted/highsecurity zones. (Airport AOA Military Bases etc.
  • Physical capabilities required are climbing lifting carrying a minimum of 75 lbs. standing sitting walking entering confined spaces pushing pulling kneeling squatting and performing repetitive actions
