The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of Scenic Art Intern. CATF a summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in 34 venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC CATF makes its home in one of Americas coolest small towns Shepherdstown WV.
Scenic Art Interns work with the Scenic Artists to execute the scenic techniques and treatments for all shows. During tech and performances they are assigned to the run crew in one venue. Responsibilities during the run include assisting with changeovers and/or assisting with touchups as needed. Basic experience with standard theatrical paints techniques and tools the ability to lift 25lbs and comfort while working at heights up to 20 (on lifts or ladders) is necessary; some basic experience with faux finishes 3D texturing and/or prep work is preferred.

Position is seasonal from June 3August 8. All staff and interns are provided free airconditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned) 12 meals per day during tech and free use of university gym pool and laundry facilities.
