Ford Motor Company a leading manufacturer of automobiles and automotive products is searching for a highly skilled and motivated candidate in electric powertrain testing operations to support development of current and future battery electric and hybrid electric vehicles in its Electric Drive Dynamometer and eMotor Lab.
What youll do...
Your daily work may include the following:
- Inspect components of eMotors such as rotors and stators.
- Assemble test sample electrical motors.
- Instrument inverters and electrical motors for test with thermocouples accelerometers voltage and current probes microphones and other equipment.
- Prepare test setups in lab environment including high voltage testers thermal chambers power cyclers ovens dynos chillers coolant conditioning units and data acquisition systems.
- Conduct testing based on test procedures and assist in the troubleshooting of test setups.
- Support test lab operations including shipping/receiving/inventory of test samples and test setup parts facility maintenance and test equipment calibration.
- Fabricate High Voltage and Low Voltage wiring harnesses and test fixtures to support eDrive testing for power electronics and electrical machines.
- Assemble various test fixtures and complete fabrication for custom parts.

QualificationsYoull have...
- 3 years working as a Technologist within Automotive or a related Industry.
- High School Degree or above.
- Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Ability to assist test labs including use of generic shop tools power tools multi meter and wire crimping tools.
- Ability to fabricate mechanical fixtures and wiring harnesses based on engineering support schematics diagrams and drawings.
- Ability to operate chain falls and small overhead cranes.
- Basic understanding of automotive 12V systems.
- Basic skills in use of computer applications (Excel MS Word and other Office products).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong problemsolving skills.
Even better you may have...
- 5 years working as a Technologist within Automotive or a related Industry.
- Associates Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical electrical automotive or related field.
- Knowledge of higher voltage systems in industrial or electric automotive applications 208VAC480VAC & 50VDC1000VDC).
- Knowledge of ECPL (Energy Control / Power Lockout) and other high voltage safety training.
- Ability to complete more advanced machining based on CAD models.
- Knowledge of running manual or automated tests in lab environment.
- Experience of mechanical assembly and electrical wiring.
- Experience working in test labs for power electronics or electrical machines.
- Experience of machining GD&T welding soldering complex wiring harness fabrication knowledge of CAN EtherCAT and Ethernet communication protocols.
