Editorial Assistant Hybrid Are you a recent college graduate who is interested in starting a career in Publishing If so come join GoodheartWillcox Publisher Experts in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and an employeeowned company as an Editorial Assistant.This is a great opportunity to get experience supporting all the facets of the acquisitions and editorial process. The ideal candidate is a selfstarter with great organizational and time management skills. Our compensation is market based and takes into account a variety of factors including the candidates skill set experience level internal equity and location. For this position we anticipate the starting salary falling between $40000 and $45000 per year. In addition the company makes a 10 contribution to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and a 4 matching contribution to the 401(k).
What youll do: - Assist with calling reviewers and completing internal backend administration processes.
- Conduct manuscript reviews which include identifying qualified instructors and helping the editors assemble and analyze reviewers feedback.
- Perform basic copyediting and proofreading as needed in a digital environment.
- Prepare digital manuscript copy and art sheets according to stylizing and formatting guidelines for production.
- Assist with market research and photo research.
- Perform quality assurance on software product ancillaries.
- Overall general administrative support for your team.
What youll bring: - Bachelors degree required. Degrees in English Publishing Studies or Journalism preferred.
- Experience in college writing center peer editing or university publishing center preferred.
- Six to 12 months of office support experience preferred.
- Must have excellent knowledge of basic English language skills needed to perform editing tasks specifically sufficient grammar and usage skills to edit manuscript and create text copy at a level acceptable to GoodheartWillcox publishing standards.
- Must be proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and Windows.
- Must communicate effectively in person by telephone in writing and by email with coworkers authors customers and outside vendors.
- Must conduct training sessions and deliver reports or presentations.
