Mountain Recreation is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Ascent Gymnastics Team Coach to lead and inspire our competitive gymnastics team! Ascent Gymnastics Team Coaches are responsible for developing training plans refining techniques and preparing athletes for competitions. Mountain Recreation is seeking a coach with a strong background in gymnastics instruction excellent motivational skills and a commitment to fostering each athletes growth and confidence.

POSITION DETAILS

Job Title: Ascent Gymnastics Team Coach

Location: Edwards Field House (Edwards CO) and Gypsum Recreation Center (Gypsum CO)

Schedule: PartTime; YearRound

Work Environment: Work schedule and number of hours varies. Work can be physically demanding. The work schedule is varied and may require evenings weekends and holidays. Hours vary depending upon specific program needs. The employee is regularly required to sit stand and walk for long periods of time to talk and hear to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to provide gymnastics spotting for up to 175 pounds climb or balance to stoop kneel crouch or crawl occasional bending or squatting. The incumbent is required to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls. Also required is frequent hearing and talking in person and on the telephone. More than 90 of time may be spent indoors. The noise level is normal to loud in an active gymnastics environment.


Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Gymnastics Coordinators and Gymnastics Supervisor

Supervision Exercised: May supervise and mentor Gymnastic Coaches I and II


Salary: $20.47 $25.59/hour DOE; staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual and can pass the language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Statement of Duties: Responsible for providing quality instructional training / coaching to program participants. Must be able to demonstrate skills and communicate well with children.


Examples of Duties:

  • Lead gymnastics classes and programs with fun and excitement.
  • Provides onsite supervision of programs and classes to assist Supervisor.
  • Keep control of behavior of gymnasts at all times and if necessary communicate behavioral issues to supervisor.
  • Adhere and be on time to all scheduled practices.
  • Ensure safety by communicating and enforcing any gymnastics center rules policies and guidelines at participants comprehension level.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including spotting demonstration proper setting of equipment.
  • Must be able to use the correct spotting techniques to ensure the safety of all participants.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment. Removing any hazardous obstacles and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment to supervisor.
  • Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns needed repairs or incidents that may need followup. Is courteous and gives sincere attention to members by answering questions.
  • Assists with set up and break down of equipment and facilities and cleans facility as assigned.
  • Responds to accidents and incidents according to procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Team Responsibilities:

  • Attend and supervise gymnasts at gymnastics competitions
  • Assist with the training choregraphing and skill progress for USA Gymnastics Xcel levels SilverSapphire. Can assist with all program levels from preschool through team.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating team activities including practices league requirements meets meet fees and entries professional development and travel
  • Assist with the planning scheduling and coordination of special programs and events including birthday parties summer camps holiday camps and Ascent Gymnastics Classic competition


Requirements

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Considerable knowledge of: Knowledge of gymnastics required. Strong oral communication skills are necessary and required.


Skills and abilities: Ability to work with a diverse group of people effectively and diplomatically. Strong customer service skills are required and necessary. The ability to handle difficult situations involving participants with patience good judgment and with diplomacy is expected.


Requirements:

Education and experience

1. Minimum 18 years of age or older; AND

2. High school graduate or equivalent or currently attending high school; AND

3. At least one year of gymnastics coaching experience


Certifications

1. May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

2. USA Gymnastics Coach Certification (preferred)

3. USA Gymnastics Meet Director Certified (preferred)
