JOB DESCRIPTION
The Middle School Math teacher is a dedicated and experiencedteacher who is passionate about teaching math responsible for deliveringhighquality math instruction aligned with the Common Core State Standardsfostering a positive learning environment and supporting the academic growthand development of middle school students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Development
Develop and implement mathcurricula aligned with Common Core State Standards and schoolwide learninggoals.
Collaborate with gradelevel teamsto ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of math instruction.
Design lesson plans that integratetechnology handson activities and realworld applications to enhance studentunderstanding.
Instruction
Deliver engaging standardsbasedmath instruction that fosters critical thinking problemsolving andcollaboration.
Incorporate a variety of teachingmethods including projectbased learning direct instruction and cooperativelearning strategies.
Utilize educational tools mathsoftware and learning management systems to enhance instruction.
Assessment
Create and administer formative andsummative assessments to evaluate student mastery of math concepts.
Use assessment data to monitorprogress identify learning gaps and adjust instructional strategies.
Provide timely and constructivefeedback to students on their performance.
Classroom Management
Establish and maintain astructured respectful and inclusive classroom environment based in theprinciples of Positive Discipline.
Develop and enforce clear classroomroutines and behavior expectations to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
Use positive reinforcement andrestorative practices to address student behavior.
Student Engagement and Differentiation
Foster a growth mindset by encouraging curiosity perseverance andresilience in math learning.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of studentsincluding those with learning differences and advanced learners.
Provide additional academic support through small group instructionor oneonone tutoring.
Collaboration and Professional Development
Participate actively inprofessional learning communities (PLCs) to develop refine and aligninstructional practices.
Engage in ongoing professionaldevelopment to stay current with best practices in math instruction andpedagogy.
Collaborate with colleagues to planinterdisciplinary projects and schoolwide initiatives.
Family Engagement
Maintain open and proactivecommunication with families about student progress classroom activities andacademic expectations.
Respond promptly and professionallyto parent inquiries and concerns.
Partner with families to supportstudents academic and personal growth.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate with parents andguardians about student progress and ways to support science learning at home.
Maintain open and effectivecommunication with students parents and colleagues regarding studentprogress curriculum updates and any issues that may arise.
Cultural Education
Promote diversity equity andinclusion in the classroom by incorporating culturally responsive teachingpractices.
Integrate multiculturalperspectives into math instruction to make learning more relevant andmeaningful.
Foster an inclusive classroomenvironment where all students feel valued and respected.
Other Duties
Support school events field tripsand extracurricular activities as needed.
Assist with duties such assupervising students during lunch recess or transitions.
Fulfill other responsibilitiesassigned by the school leadership to contribute to the overall success of theschool.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelorsdegree or equivalent in science or science education. Masters preferred. ValidU.S. teaching certification or license in the relevant field is required.
Experience: Indepthknowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and how to integrateSEPs DCIs and CCCs into classroom practice. Experience with handsoninquirybased learning and the ability to foster a collaborative learningenvironment. Proficiency in the use of educational technology science labequipment and software tools to enhance student learning.
Skills:
Fluent in English (primary languageof instruction at our school).
Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills both written and verbal.
Understanding of languageacquisition theories and teaching methodologies.
Cultural sensitivity and theability to integrate cultural aspects into lessons.
Strong ability to engage studentsin phenomenabased learning andguide them through the scientific method.
Classroom management skills thatpromote a safe respectful and focused learning environment.
Adaptability to differentiateinstruction and assess students on multiple dimensions of NGSSalignedlearning.

AISstaff members are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare ofchildrenyoung persons and all members of the AIS community for whom she /he isresponsible or with whom she/he comes into contact. All employees orvolunteers will adhere to and ensure compliance with the Schools policies atall times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the jobholder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety orwelfare of children or other community membersin the school she /he must report any concerns to the Child ProtectionOfficer (CPO) and School Director.
